Profile

Midas was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM when his family had to move and couldn't bring him with them. He is a gentle, easy-going, and well-mannered dog who can live with children of all ages, other dogs, and cats. Midas thrives on approval from his human(s), so his adoptive family must be prepared to reward his good behavior with affection. Since he enjoys playing fetch, a physical fence is recommended, but it is not required as long as a good plan is in place to ensure his safety.

Sweet Midas has been part of our family for just over 3 months, and it’s hard to remember what our lives were like before he joined our active family. He quickly transitioned into our family, and he brings us so much joy every single day.

He is so devoted and loves hanging by our sides. The feelings are mutual and we make a point to bring him everywhere possible with us, whether it’s dropping a kid off at a sports practice, going out for a boat ride on the Mississippi River, or spending time at one of our places up North.

He’s slowly learning what swimming is all about, and is becoming braver every time we take him out on the water. We couldn’t ask for a more perfect addition into our family.

We are thankful that Midas’ surrendering family turned to RAGOM when their life circumstances changed and they no longer could keep him. It is evident that he was well loved before he came to RAGOM.

Additionally, we are thankful the RAGOM and Midas’ foster dad for choosing our family to provide Midas his forever home. This sweet boy truly has a golden touch that he spreads to all that meet him.

Yesterday was Midas 6th birthday. We celebrated by taking him on a weekend trip up North with us, where we spent lots of time throwing his ball for him, taking him on boat rides, giving him lots of pets, feeding him yummy treats, and telling him how good he is and how much we love him.

Birthday pancakes and bacon for this special boy.

Midas was adopted today. He now has three young human brothers and sisters to play and snuggle with, and to take him on adventures. He’ll also get to regularly see a fellow RAGOM alumnus who was adopted by the grandparents. Enjoy the Golden Life, Midas. We’ll miss you.

Say hello to Midas! Midas is a sweet, gentle, beta male who loves to be near his family. He as is as easy as they come.

Midas is very gentle on a leash and rarely stops to sniff. He’s had some heeling training and would love more. He is always looking for approval from his humans and prefers to take a back seat to his fellow dogs.

Speaking of backseats, he just lays down during car rides. In the house, he stays off furniture, yet likes to invite himself at the dinner table.

He enjoys all the usual Golden Retriever hobbies. He likes to chase the ball (and squirrels), but needs to learn that he’s supposed to give the ball back upon retrieving and not make a tug-of-war game out of it. He doesn’t stray from his home or humans, therefore a physical fence, although always recommended, is not required.

Midas is good with cats and better with kids, even toddlers. His ideal family would be a younger family with kids for Midas to play with. He can be an only pet, but would love another dog or a cat to play with.

Midas needs humans who are willing and able to give him the approval he seeks, and to walk him every day and throw the ball a few times, and don’t mind him following you everywhere. He enjoys being indoors. Unlike his Great Pyrenees foster brother, he goes outside just for temporary playtime. He prefers winter in small bites.
