This is FM introducing Mike and welcoming him to RAGOM. Mike came to RAGOM as a stray. He had been picked up by a police officer after being on the run for awhile and taken to a shelter where he spent a few days. He then needed to be moved quickly, since it was a kill shelter. Mike’s temporary foster, who rescued him from the shelter, took him to her home where he was introduced to their three resident goldens. I understand the four dogs all got along quite well. Temporary FM gave Mike a bath and got most of the mats and dirt out of his coat. He was lookin’ pretty good when we got him to our house on Monday night! I am attaching a photo of Mike that Holly, who was part of the transport team, took of Mike during the transport. Thanks for all of your help, Holly! FM will take more pictures soon.
We’ve had Mike with us for three days so let me tell you a little bit about what we’ve learned about him. Mike and I went to see the vet for a check and he is estimated to be about 1 ½ years old and weighs 61 lbs. Mike is an intact male who we think is a PB golden. He is a pretty mellow guy, but he doesn’t like loud noises and startles easily. His coat is a pretty, dark red color, but he does have several cuts and scrapes on his muzzle from his being on the run. Mike is scheduled to see the vet next week to be neutered. The vet, after the first look, thought he was thin but in good health – no big issues so far. We are working on getting him house broken. He has had a couple of accidents in the house so far. If Mike has a signal to let me know he needs to go outside, I haven’t discovered it yet – but I’m working on it! I’ll let you know more after Mike’s vet appt. next week.
