Puppy Love! Milo came to our house 5 days ago after spending some time in a shelter and boarding facility. He has a great personality and brings a smile to your face when you see the constant smile on his. He was surrendered to a humane society when his family was moving and couldn’t take him with. So, the best part is, he’s still young, but he has some great manners! We’re not exactly sure how old Milo is or what his mix is. His paperwork is showing him at 8 months old, but the vet was wondering if he was just over a year because of some tarter on his molars already. Milo weighs 34 lbs and I would guess him to be about done growing if he’s around the year mark, but he could surprise us. Right now, he’s the perfect size medium dog. He's also fixed and up-to-date on shots with a clean bill of health from the vet.

Milo is a happy puppy and knows basic commands. He will come when he’s called, sit, lay down and shake. He does jump up on you when he’s really excited, but we’ve been working on that. Since he’s smaller he can’t counter surf very well, but we have been working on “off” as well. Milo LOVES to play with our resident or with people. He’ll bring you his toys to play tug or he knows let go and will play fetch with you. We’ve been taking him on daily walks and he’ll pull on a collar, but does fine on a gentle leader or harness. With him being only 34 lbs, he’s pretty easy to work with.We have only had 1 accident in the house, so I would call him potty trained. It was more our fault that we forgot that after puppies eat, they need to go out pretty shortly after to take care of business. Lol… Milo sleeps in the kennel at night and will only cry for the first minute before pawing around to make his bed for the night. He respects baby gates, but will put his paws up on it when he’s excited. He definitely is a velcro dog and loves his people! Milo will cry sometimes if you go into another room for a minute and shut the door. He’ll also cry when you leave. He seems to be a little vocal in that sense, but he doesn’t bark a lot. He’s a great snuggle buddy and loves to be petted. He’ll melt into your hand and close his eyes when you rub his head sometimes. Milo would love a fairly active forever home. He’s young and will require daily exercise to keep him out of trouble. He seems to have pretty good recall, so a fence may be optional if you work with him. I have not had him around cats, so I don’t know if he would chase them or want to play too much. He would be good as the only dog or with others since he likes to play. I have not had Milo around kids, but with him being a medium size dog he may be good with all ages.We would like to thank some awesome volunteers also for helping to get Milo to our house a couple of days earlier than what I could have gotten him. We also appreciate the toy and blanket make by another volunteer to make Milo feel more comfortable while he was in boarding. RAGOM has the best volunteers and these dogs are truly lucky to have each one of them helping in different aspects. More to come as we get to know this adorable boy even better!

Updates

Hi there, it is me, Milo! I am still enjoying my time with my furever family. They sure treat me well. Here is a summary of some of my good, and not so good moments!

  1. I like zippers. This means I like to eat zippers. Zippers off my sister's boots are the best! I also like to eat rip zippers off of my doggy beds. So no more zippers around here!
  2. I love to play with my new toys that Santa brought for me at Christmas! My Planet Dog Orbee football is the best! They are the first toys that bounce, are squishy and I can chew, but not destroy! I am constantly running around with them in my mouth and dropping them on mom and dad's lap when they are trying to relax at night. They love it when I play fetch as long as I drop it and wait nice.
  3. I love my brother and sister. I follow them all over the house and like to lay right on top of their lego creations. They don't like that so much! I am best at making sure they are cozy on the couch in the mornings or if they stay home from school and are sick. My favorite thing to do is to play and act just like they do. This means I like to look outside with them at the window, play catch with them and even play dress up! I give them a lot of puppy kisses too!
  4. I am learning more manners everyday and working hard to be a good dog. Sometimes though it is just so hard!

Watching the snow plow go by

Playing dress up. Yes, I am a boy!

I hope all of you are doing well! Thank you for giving me hope and the opportunity of a great life!

Love, Milo Dog (MD for short)

Hi Ragom!  It's me, Milo Dog (or MD for short...that's right, a doctor!)  (#12-067), and I just wanted to let you know what I have been up to since I arrived at my furever home!

The last month has been a month of adventures.  These people take me everywhere with them!  The two kids that live here are great fun to play with!  I really enjoy running loose in a neighbor's fenced in backyard and playing football with the kids.  My favorite part is when I steal the ball from them and make a touchdown!  I do have a sneaky side to me...I steal a lot of the kids' toys and run away with them.  I am proud to say that I do not chew their toys and am very gentle with them.  I just enjoy watching them try to figure out how to get it out of my mouth.  Usually in the end, they give me a treat if I "drop it".  I will do about anything for a treat!

I have also figured out that I really enjoy swimming at the many lakes my family keeps bringing me to.  I bite at all the waves when they come in and it is so much fun!  They even let me jump into the backseat of their car all wet and stinky when I am done.  However, I am not a fan of the baths I get when I get back home.

I have enjoyed going on walks everyday and especially when I went to a local state park and enjoyed the many smells there on an island I got to hike on.  I like to play with my cousin Stella, a golden retriever, but am trying to learn to not bite at her so much when we are playing.  I just get so excited!!

My life is good with this family and I can't wait to see where we go next!  They told me to make sure I said a special thanks to all the Ragom volunteers out there.  Without all of you, I wouldn't have been able to meet this great family who I live with.  You are all gems!

I want to send a special bark out to my former foster sister Zayla!  I miss you and really enjoyed the time we got to play together!  Also, I want to say a special thank you to my foster mom and dad who took great care of me while I was with them.  I love you!

Hi Everyone! Foster mom has really been slacking on providing an update on me! My foster parents think I’m incredibly cute and such a good boy! I understand the word “no” and am not an obnoxious, crazy puppy. I’m well mannered where I can sit and wait for my food when asked and I don’t jump up too much. I don’t whine in the kennel anymore, but I have a personality with a voice when needed. Foster mom thinks I’m saying “I love you” sometimes when I talk to her in the morning, but really it’s more along the lines of “stop petting me and feed me.”

I’ve had a lot of fun here playing with the resident and having other play dates. I seem to know toys are the only thing to chew on, but shoes are also kept out of sight. Plants on the other hand are fun to play with. Foster mom isn’t sure if a rabbit ate her tulips off in the back or if it was me…I’ll never tell! I have a habit of eating anything I see, so there are always eyes on me and fingers taking things out of my mouth. My toys have been limited to kongs and other things that I can’t eat pieces off of to keep me safe. What can I say, I’m young and having fun!

I’ve also been a great helper with building part of a fence, helping with laundry and just keeping everyone company. Foster mom laughs as me because I’m always right there seeing what she’s doing and providing help when I can. She gave the resident, Zayla, a bath and I was there helping with my paws over the side of the tub and giving licks for support. Well, little did I know I was next and that wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be. I tried getting out of the tub a couple of times during my bath, but ended up clean in the long run.

My favorite part of the day is going for a walk. I wear a gentle leader for walks. I’m a little excited on a flat collar, so I pull trying to sniff the grass and everything on the side of the road. I get distracted easily when I see another dog or someone who might give me some attention.

I know there is a really special family out there who will keep me active and give me lots of love. I listen really well, like to play fetch and love attention. Please, let your placement advisor know if you want to meet me!
