We are so happy to introduce the newest youngster to come into RAGOM - Milo! This drop-dead gorgeous guy is only 7 months old and he was lovingly surrendered to us due to a change in the family circumstances that resulted in him not getting the attention he needed. His family wanted him to find a forever family that would dote on him and love him as he so deserves. Prior to coming to us, Milo was essentially an outdoor dog, but he has quickly adapted to the creature comforts found inside a home (his favorite place to nap now is on the couch). Also, surprisingly enough, he has not had one accident in the house and whines to go out when he has to go potty. Milo has also really enjoyed going from being an only dog to being one of our pack. Our three resident girls were not very welcoming when he first got here, and I felt so bad for Milo because he saw the three of them in the backyard and I swear he thought he hit the jackpot - playmates!!! Unfortunately, that was not the case as each gave him a little growl to back off and calm down, and he respectfully laid in front of them and waited for them to engage him. Having not been exposed to a lot of other dogs in his previous home, I was really impressed at how well he reads their signs. Since that first day, things have been really peaceful between everyone and Milo has just seamlessly fit in. He is just so easy to have around and really about the most perfect pup we have fostered.

Milo has very few restrictions on the type of home he could go to, as long as there is a ton of love and attention - he loves his people!

  • Another dog or not, it doesn't matter. He was an only dog so is used to that, but he also is fantastic in our home with 3 other pups. He would love another dog to play with, but this is not required.
  • A fence is not required.
  • Kids - he did not live with any small children and we do not have any, but he has been great with neighborhood kids. Keep in mind he is still young, so he does have some puppy craziness at times and may knock over toddlers in his exuberance, but he is generally very gentle and sweet.
  • Lived with a cat and did fine.

You can definitely tell that Milo came from a home where he was loved. He is incredibly well trained for a 7-month-old - he knows sit, stay, wait, lay down, drop, down, and heel - and he is just so darn happy all the time! Plus he came with a ton of toys (which he has kindly shared with our 12-year-old resident Golden who believes that every new dog to our home must bring gifts just for her!) and other grooming supplies.

Unfortunately, this sweet guy has some issues that need to be addressed before he will be available for adoption. His family had told us that about a month ago, he began limping a bit on his front left leg. They took him in for X-rays and nothing definitive was found. With some restricted activity and rest, his limp went away. Unfortunately, his limp has returned. Since coming here on Sunday, it has been very obvious. While he does not appear to be in pain of any kind, his vet has decided that more X-rays are needed so that we could figure out what is going on with him. Milo will be going in on Monday to have these done (and he will be neutered at the same time). The vet does have a pretty good idea on what is causing his limp and just wants a confirmation - the good news is, if it is what she thinks, it will require surgery and about 6 weeks of rehabilitative therapy, but the prognosis is excellent for a full and total recovery without any long-term effects. I will post again early next week when we know a bit more. So, while Milo is not currently available for adoption, as soon as we figure out what is going on with this sweet boy and can get him on the road to recovery, he will be able to meet potential forever families. Believe me, this boy is truly something special and will be a blessing to any family.
