Profile

Minnie was surrendered to RAGOM by a woman who found her on Craig's List, but after discovering the extent of Minnie's medical issues, could not afford to keep her. Minnie can live with other dogs and she gets along with cats. Because Minnie gets easily overexcited, children in her forever home should be at least 10 years old. Minnie needs supervision outdoors, because she has chewed through tie-outs and jumped fences.

We are happy to say the Minnie Pearl has found the perfect home. Her mom works from a home office, which Minnie loves because she gets walks and treats throughout the day.

She has a sister, Kayla Marie (a Golden Retriever former breeder), who has taught her a few tricks when it comes to begging, and a great neighborhood with lots of friends, furry and human.

Thank you, RAGOM, for rescuing Minnie Pearl and restoring her to the healthy lifestyle she was meant to live.

Minnie was surrendered to RAGOM by a woman who had found her on Craig's List, but after discovering the extent of Minnie's medical issues, could not afford to keep her. Minnie had been severely neglected. Life, as she knew it, was as a breeder dog. When she no longer could produce healthy puppies, the breeder "no longer had any use for her."

Her initial visit to the vet was pretty sobering. Treatment for hookworms began immediately. She was diagnosed with bilateral ear infections, which likely were chronic due to the extensive scarring seen.

She was found to have multiple mammary tumors needing excision. Her dental exam revealed teeth that were severely worn, likely from chewing on metal crates, with several broken teeth. We began the rehabilitation process.

After stabilizing Minnie in an environment where she became comfortable, we scheduled Minnie to meet the vet who would remove her mammary tumors. On that visit, it was found that Minnie was beginning another heat cycle, so surgery would need to be delayed. In the meantime, she received another round of treatment for hookworms which seemed to be rather resistant to treatment.

On the day Minnie was scheduled for surgery, in addition to having her mammary tumors removed, she would also have additional spay surgery. With the extent of her tumors, she was not able to have her dental work done at this time and would return at a later date for this.

After a full recovery from her major surgery, Minnie was scheduled for her dental surgery. She had three canine teeth that were fractured at the gum line removed.

Recovery from this surgery was much easier than the other, and Minnie Pearl rapidly returned to eating her favorite kibble and bouncing around as her happy self.

Minnie needs supervised introduction to other dogs, as she has met a few dogs that she has not liked. But she does like to play with other dogs who she finds to her liking.

We are working on Minnie's tendency to jump up on people and be overexcited. She likes children, but we feel she will do best with older children (ages 10+).

Minnie requires supervision when she is outdoors, because she has a history of chewing through tie outs and will jump a four-foot fence.
