Mistee 07-532

Profile

RAGOM introduces MISTEE.Mistee is a 3 year old female from Missouri, where she was used as a puppy machine by a backyard breeder.  She's been spayed now, so this sweet girl will not have to have puppies ever again.  She's on the road to the Golden life now...She's not been here long, but what we do know about Mistee is that she seems pretty calm (considering all she's been through), she has skin irritation that she is on antibiotics for, she has a cyst on her tail that we'll ask the vet about, and her fur is a little sparce in spots, but I understand that can be common in backyard breeder dogs.  A couple of weeks of meds, good food, and loving care, and Mistee will be looking and feeling GReat!More to come as I get to know this little sweetie better.

My sweet and shy little shadow, Mistee, rode off into the sunset last night in a shiny black Mustang, with her "forever" Dad at the wheel.  It was a beautiful sight.  She will be loved, cared for, and totally spoiled - just as it should be!  I will miss my sweet girl.

Thanks, Phil S. (and Grandma and Grandpa too!) for giving Mistee a wonderful forever home!

Hi Everyone. Just a quick update on Mistee.....she had surgery on her tail and a fractured tooth removed this past Wednesday. If you remember, from an earlier update, I reported that Mistee had a cyst on her tail that we were going to have the vet check. He did an aspiration and, while he didn't see any suspicious cells, he recommended removing the cyst because it's sure to rupture at some time and will likely cause discomfort for Mistee as well as making a huge mess (he spoke from personal experience). And, worst of all, it would most certainly grow back due to the sac being in place. So, off to surgery Mistee went. It was really hard leaving her at the vet Wednesday morning - her eyes were so sad - I felt awful. When I picked her up, I couldn't believe what a pitiful sight I saw. Poor Mistee, with great big droopy eyes, wondering what the heck happened. Fortunately, when she heard my voice, she st ood right up and started walking towards the door. She wasn't walking very straight though. What we learned is that Mistee doesn't need much meds to knock her out.... We got home and I tried to get her to lay down, but Miss Velcro would have none of that. She followed me everywhere. I tried to stay put for long periods of time, but then Mistee would stand (not lay down) and look at me, eyes half open, and swaying from side to side. I was so happy when it was time to turn out the lights for the night so Mistee could get some rest. Thursday morning, the "old" Mistee was back - eyes bright, tail wagging, full of life. The vet ended up taking about 3" of Mistee's tail, as there isn't a lot of skin on the tail to pull together to stitch. I told poor Mistee that if she sticks around here long enough, we're going to make her a Poodle yet! Oh, and the tooth, it was fractured and likely painful, so the vet pulled it. So, Mistee is missing a lower front too th - probably better for whistling anyway :)
Here's some pics of Mistee after surgery. I was trying to capture her droopy eyes, but she likes to be so close to her human, it was hard to get pics of her. Mistee is doing great. We go back to the vet Tuesday to get the bandage removed - and possibly replaced. Then, in two weeks, she gets her stitches out. Other than that, Mistee is a healthy and happy pup that is looking for a home that wants to pet her, scratch her belly, take her for walks, kiss her nose and tell her she's beautiful and, basically, love her to pieces!
One more thing.....about 2 weeks ago, we had some thunder with our rain and Mistee got a little nervous. It was after we were asleep and she pawed at me to wake up. I put her in bed and cuddled her and she settled down - and I kept warm!! Win Win! Until next time...
