Molly 12-353

Profile

Molly and her brother 12-352 Beau arrived this weekend from southern Iowa, and were surrendered by a loving loving family that moved to place that didn't allow dogs. Molly must have lived a wonderful life because she is a happy, well adjusted, playful, typical golden girl. She is 8 years old, spayed and about 10 lbs overweight. She is also very interested in food! Other than being overweight, she seems to be in good health but we will find out this weekend at the vet check-up. We started a diet and daily walks. Molly is very strong, and really pulls on a leash so we are learning to walk with a gentle leader.
Molly is a silly girl. She sits in your lap any chance she gets, has a smile all the time and is really affectionate. She is grabby with her toys so we need to work on that a bit, and she helped herself to dozen freshly baked muffins the first night she arrived so we are working on manners! She has free roam of the house when I am gone, and other than being grabby with her togs, she gets along well with other dogs. I try to keep my kids away from new dogs for a few days to give them time to chill, but Molly can't get enough of the kids. She wants belly rubs and lots of love! Molly sleeps in my room at night, and doesn't make a sound. Neither Beau nor Molly really bark, which would be a great thing to teach Mia!
Molly and Beau have lived together their entire life, but again she is very well adjusted and they are not dependent on each other. I'm having a hard time getting photos of her because she is such a wiggle but! I'll work on better photos and write more once I get to know this sweet girl. Miss Molly doesn't seem to mind this cold weather.  She is doing so well with her walking that we no longer need a gentle leader, and she is ready to go first thing in the morning regardless of the temperature!  I haven't weighed her recently but her energy level is great and she looks less beefy!  Molly also understands the difference between kid toys and dog toys, AND seems to have given up on counter surfing (no turkey for Miss Molly)!  Yeah!

Molly is such a sweet girl.  Her mornings start early, and if I don't get up early enough, she paws me until i do! That is followed by her happy dance until we are out walking.  Molly is an easy girl to foster and full of personality, and she loves her toys!

Molly gets more affectionate very day! She is such a love bug, and silly girl with her mannerisms. When it's time to get up in the morning, she starts with a gentle nudge to my arm. If I pretend to keep sleeping, she adds the paw, and further delays lead to the "good morning howl"! Too funny~
Molly and Mia have found their groove and well play together. Mia holds a bit of a grudge so I'm happy to see them settling in and enjoying each other. Molly has been doing really well with walking on a leash – two walks a day have become our routine, and she must be getting used to it. She knows our path, loves stopping to enjoy all the smells, and then it's time to catch up to Mia.
I've also learned she knows how to open the gate, and does not run away. It took a bit to figure out how she was getting out, and several discussions with my kids reminding them how important it is to close the gate (which they correctly insisted they had done)! :) She just wandered to the front door and waited while I just about had a heart attack. Now the gates have locks, but she is happy as can be staying in the yard.
She had a blast checking out all the kids out for Halloween, and the cant bowl stayed well out of her reach!
You should check out this sweet girl. Everyone that meets her falls in love!

Molly went to the vet this weekend and other than needing to lose 15 pounds (currently at 90), she is in great health. She is on the green bean diet, and has multiple long walks a day, so I don't think it will take too long for her to be in top shape. Miss Molly has done really well with her manners too. She is very motivated by positive reinforcement, which is great because I don't want to reward her with treats. We've been working on how grabby she is with toys, and that she needs to release her toy when I ask. I'm impressed by how much progress Molly has made in a week! She is still crazy about my kids, her toys and she continues to see herself as a lap dog! :)
