Montana 10-395

Profile

Montana (or "Tana" to her friends) came to live at my house today. She is 10 years old and weighs 83 pounds. Like many seniors, Tana has arthritic hips and knees. Her previous home was a heated barn which is not where an old gal with stiff legs wants to be! She is very gentle, sweet and cooporative. She was groomed before she came to RAGOM, so she is sporting some ribbons on her ears.

I took her to the vet this afternoon. She has a few large lumps that may need to be tested. Some blood was drawn and the results should come back next week. Her weight is a bit high, so she will be on a diet. Losing some weight should lhelp with her legs too. It is hard for her to get up when she has been resting for a while. She is stiff and it takes a while for her to warm up. She needs help getting into the car as her back legs are weak.

She is sleeping now and I can tell you that she snores... Her previous owner says that she is house trained. So far, no accidents. She is fine with other dogs and has spent time with young puppies. She loves children and is very affectionate. She had a VERY busy day and needs to just relax in her new home. As I get to know her better, I will share it here. Welcome to RAGOM, Tana!

Tana went to her first Petsmart event on Saturday and she had a GREAT time! As you can see by the pictures she was meeting and greeting everyone. When she first walked in she went straight to the clerks at the cash register to ask for some petting. She then stood by the door and greeted everyone as they came in. She wants Petsmart to know that she is available for the position of Door Greeter and will work for treats! She enjoyed sniffing and seeing all of the other foster dogs. Her favorite part was seeking out free hands so that she could get more petting. We were there for three hours and she never took a rest. She kept seeing new people that she HAD to meet! She did take a water break as all of that socializing can dry a girl out. She slept well on Saturday night and would have been ready for another outing on Sunday.

Her back was fine for a few days and then she had a slight flair up on Tuesday. I noticed the signs right away and gave her some muscle relaxers. Getting it early seems to be the key. She did not need pain pills and never showed as much pain as the first time. She won’t need to be on the relaxers all of the time, but I will keep some on hand just in case.

She went to book group with me last night. She laid down under the table where she had access to many people’s hands. I think that she got petting for most of the session. She gets so happy and excited when she gets to go someplace with me. She bounces on her front legs like a puppy. She is sweet, sweet, sweet!
