Hello Everyone!

My name is Moss. I am a 9 year old boy who is in a foster home because some amazingly wonderful people in South Dakota acted quickly to get me into RAGOM. My foster family and I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped get me into RAGOM and to all of those who gave me lots of love and attention for several days before I went to my foster home!

Well, my first week in my foster home has been great! I have two resident dogs to play with and a cat who thinks I'm his snuggle bunny. My foster family has already taken me to the park several times to walk, explore and swim. The water is a little chilly but I don't mind. Going to the park also involves being in the car, which I love. I am the perfect passenger.....I just sprawl out on the backseat and quietly enjoy the ride. Not only am I quiet in the car, but I am a quiet boy in general. My foster family has not heard me bark once. I'm even quieter than the cat.

I am super easy to take care of.....if I do say so myself. I am quiet, obedient and very loving. Some of my favorite things to do are to follow foster dad around the house, nap, sit in the car, run around in the back yard, nap some more, go for walks, have someone pet me and swim. And other than being a bit on the heavy side, I tipped the scales at 101 pounds this week, my health is good. My foster family is helping me get down to a more healthy weight and, with a combination of a good diet and exercise, I should get there in no time!

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Moss has found a permanent home! Mine. It became quite obvious shortly after meeting this wonderful boy that I was not going to be able to give him up. He grabbed my heart from the beginning, like all the dogs do, but there was something about his past, his age and his wonderful personality that made me realize I needed to keep him with me forever. Moss fits in perfectly with my family, is a total sweetheart and he really seems happy in his new home. And we're all very happy to have him with us!

Thank you to everyone who was interested in this amazing dog and read his updates, as infrequent as they were. And a special thank you to the wonderful people in Sioux Falls who helped rescue Moss and helped get him on his way to his new life in Minnesota!!

Another weekend has flown by and my furry kids are all snoozing so now is the time to send another update on my amazing foster boy Moss. He is such a wonderful boy and I really can't say enough good things about him. He is so easy to care for and even easier to love. He gets along with all dogs, humans and cats he meets. He never barks. Well, almost never. I've heard him bark once, because there was a cute yellow lab at the park that he wanted to meet, otherwise he doesn't make a peep. He doesn't even snore. Moss likes to follow me when I mow the lawn while the resident Golden runs upstairs and watches us from the bedroom window. Whenever I come home, Moss is the one looking out the window watching for me. And I know I've said it before but Moss REALLY loves to swim. He is the first to get in the water and the last to get out. I can't wait to get in there and swim with him this summer......if the water ever warms up enough for humans.

Probably the best news of all is that Moss has lost 10 pounds since I got him. He is down to 91 pounds! He looks so much better and healthier than when I got him and he seems to feel better, too. Moss still has some weight to lose but I am already so proud of him. Moss is the sweetest boy you could possibly imagine!

Hello, this is Moss taking time out of my "busy" schedule to say hi once again! I am loving life, getting fit and still doing great in my foster home. There isn't much new to report but I wanted to take this opportunity to send a few recent pictures of me. Foster Dad said that it is hard to get good pictures of me indoors because I usually close my eyes when the flash goes off.....but hey, that light is bright! Anyway, here are a few more photos of me.....all with my eyes open!

Moss has decided to hand over his RAGOM update duties to me this time so that he can focus more of his energy on napping. But it's probably better that I'm writing it because he is too modest to say just how wonderful he really is. Moss (Mossy to his friends and family) is an incredibly easy dog to foster (as long as I have a hand available to pet him). I don't think there is anything that bothers this guy. His manners are amazing. He is calm, friendly and good-natured. And extremely quiet! I still have not heard him bark.....not even when the resident dogs are barking like crazy and try to get him going. Moss will usually just give me a look as if to say, "What is up with those two? Can't they keep it down?".

Thanks to a change in his eating habits, Moss is starting to slim down and his energy level on walks has noticeably increased. This boy is incredibly easy to walk, he loves riding in the car, he gets along with everyone he meets, he enjoys swimming, he loves attention, he never misbehaves, he sleeps great at night and he is truly a joy to have around.

Here are a few more things to note about Moss:

  • He would probably be happiest in a quiet home. The less commotion, the better.
  • He wants a family that won't mind if he follows them around the house.
  • Although I don't consider him to be a flight risk, a fenced yard is always nice.
  • Moss is used to having another dog in the house and, ideally, his new home would have a second dog to keep him company.
  • All in all, Moss just wants a family who will give him all the love and attention he truly deserves.
