Murphy 11-380

Profile

Murphy is a gorgeous purebred Golden Retriever, approximately 3.5 years old, who was voluntarily surrendered by his family. He was described by his owners as being perfect 98% of the time, but a bit too rough for their own children. What I see is a perfect dog, very smart and eager-to-please, who, with some guidance and boundaries, will be perfect 100% of the time. He loves people, and follows one family member or another from room to room. He knows basic commands such as sit, and consistently comes when called. He is pretty active, loves walks, and does very well with the Gentle Leader. He loves to play. If we say "get your ball" he will run around until he finds a toy of any sort and bring it to us. Murphy is very quiet: The only times I have heard him bark are when he is playing or wants to come inside. He is housebroken, and indicates his need to go out by standing by the door and whining.

We have been leaving Murphy, who gets along well with our family dog, for periods of 6-7 hours when we are at work/school, and he does very well. He doesn't chew or have any bad habits that I have noticed in his few days with us, although he is extremely interested in our cats, and will chase them if they run. I would not recommend him for a household with a very timid cat, but believe that if a cat ignored him, he would leave it alone.

Murphy is truly one terrific dog who will be a loyal and enjoyable pet.
