HI. I'm sending a picture. It's the only one that fostermom could catch. I move too fast. Fostermom still calls me "favorite" but everybody else has started calling me "trouble-maker". What does that mean? I can climb over the baby gate! And it's great fun to chase the chickens and watch them fly everywhere. I can climb up onto the table if the chairs are in the right place. I can climb out of the outside nursery. I am amazing at all the things that I can do - too bad my sisters and brothers aren't as talented as me. There was a big crash yesterday and fostermom yelled my name before she even came downstairs -- how did she know? I guess I have the attention span of a bunny rabbit, I don't know what that means either. What was I talking about? Gotta go.

Fostermom has been taking us for short rides in the van. I don't ever vomit! We went for a longer ride this week and stopped to see a woman named "Vet". She was really nice but then she stuck me with a couple needles and I didn't like that. I got my vaccines, and some tastey stuff to get rid of worms in my tummy, and a microchip. I got two new jingly things for my collar. Then she sent some "treat" home that fostermom gave me today - something about a heartguard.
I weigh 9.5 pounds. I'm getting so big. Well, ok, I'm still the smallest but I'm growing. I think that my name has been changed to "favorite". I was Vet's favorite, and I am fostermom's favorite and I am favorite of most of the fosterfamily. Even tho I'm the smallest, I am the only one that has been able to jump up on the couch when chasing the little humans. I am full of energy when I'm playing, but as soon as somebody picks me up I am so calm. I can go to my forever family soon and I am eager to meet them. Is it you?

Mom has told us something very important. She has told us that we will not live here forever. Very soon (as early as March 11, to be exact) we will be big enough to go to new homes. We will be able to leave our brothers and sisters and be very special pets to our "forever family".
So I guess it's time for us to get personal. Let me tell you about ME, a separate dog than my littermates.
I am light golden with dark dark eyes and barely a white spot on my head. I have really wavy hair with a light-colored undercoat, I will probably be long haired. I am really rather "cute" with an adorable face. I love people and I am affectionate. I am the smallest of my family. I can sit very cutely on my back legs and wave with both front legs. I remind people of a circus dog. I am outgoing and playful and melt when I'm held. I would love a home where I will be brushed and kept beautiful - I will surely make people smile! I will enjoy lots of love and playtime. I am attentive to the humans and I love to give kisses. I have a Golden personality and will probably look very much like a Golden Retriever. If you look closely at some of our baby pictures you can see that we were all born with the infamous Golden Smile. I am very excited to become a special pet!

I am learning about snow. Fosterdad first brought in a pile of it to our playroom. I barked at it first, then I got brave and jumped in it. We pretty much ended up eating it all. Then today fosterdad took us outside. It would've been funner, but I am a pampered pup and wasn't prepared for the coldness of the outdoors, so we only stayed out there a few minutes. My little girl human wrapped me up warm to dry me off.
I've had several visitors lately so I am also learning about different humans. It is a lot of fun to smell them and jump on their feet. I have several chew toys now and like to play chase and tug-o-war. I am getting very good at growling and barking and batting with my paws. I can run and jump and sit on just my back legs with my front paws in the air. I often come running when I hear fosterdad whistle or when fostermom calls "puppies". I eat hard food now, and drink lots of water. I like to be with humans whenever I can. Mom only comes to nurse me about 2 or 3 times a day now, but she stays close by when we have visitors or when we leave our whelping room.

I am 4 weeks old! I have grown a lot. I've had my first soap bath, complete with a blow-dry. I have begun to spend time with the humans all by myself, away from my siblings. We each get to do this at least once every day. I am eating more and more. We see a lot of the human Mom because she cleans our play/eat area a lot - this is to help me learn to keep "messes" out of my play/eat area. You can see in the pictures that we've gotten pretty mobile, and it would seem we've begun dance lessons. I'm very playful now and sometimes I chase Auntie Remington (the other dog that lives here) but she acts like she's afraid of me. I've begun to learn a little English, also. When I am running toward a human they say "come", and when I sit down they say "sit" and when I bite the humans, they close my mouth and say "no". I really am a clever puppy.

Guess what I've learned. Giggling means the humans like what I'm doing. The little humans giggle a lot when I lick them on the cheek and nibble their toes. The great big huge human giggles when I chase him. And the "mom" human giggles when I potty on the newspaper - that's just weird but I'll do it because I like to hear her giggle. I even met a new human and he giggled too. I liked meeting somebody new, I hope I get to meet lots of humans as I grow up.
I've had my first swimming lesson. It was scary at first but my boss was holding me so I relaxed and then I enjoyed it. I sent a picture of one of us -- we look so much alike I'm not sure if it's me or somebody else. I'm also learning to drink water and eat puppyfood. I'm playing a lot now with my siblings and I'm trying to learn to run - but I usually fall down. I don't ever ever potty in the sleeping room (which is inside a thing called a kennel), and I am going to the newspaper more and more to go potty. My mommy says I'm a very good puppy. I'm sending a picture of us "sisters".

Humans! Mommy told us that those 2-legged creatures are called "humans". I LOVE humans. The small humans sit in our playroom and teach me to sit on laps, and get hugs and kisses, and to not be nervous with lots of giggling. The big human called "Mom" brings us yummy puppyfood and new chewtoys for me to explore. She brings around different noisy things like a vaccuum cleaner, radio, fan. She cleans my bedding a lot and tells me to potty on the newspaper, I don't know what that means. She clips my nails and brushes my fur and cleans my ears - she's teaching me how to be "groomed". She spends the most time with us. Then there's the great big huge human. My mommy loves him the most. He made our home bigger and made separate places to sleep, eat/play, and potty. He teaches me to play and lets me practice growling. Whenever he's done playing with me then he makes me lay on my back while he rubs my tummy. I like that because it reminds me that he's the boss - I know I don't have to worry about anything because the boss will take care of me. I can just concentrate on being a puppy - and sleeping. I still sleep a lot.

My eyes are open! Now that I can see, I'm really enjoying snuggling with those two-legged creatures that come hold me all the time. They don't all look the same - just like they don't all smell the same. Oh, but my eyes get tired and I still need to sleep a lot. I've had my toenails clipped a couple times, I get to be in a "crate" twice a day while my bedding is washed, and I get petted many times every day. I guess this is the beginning of the Golden Life. I'm NOT a "runt" -- I'm just petite. We even had a temporary sibling (picture below), you'll have to read Mom's updates to learn about him.
