Nell (Venus 08-131)

Profile

Welcome to RAGOM Venus!! This blonde beauty came to our house in Oakdale today and wow is she stunning! Venus is a 3 1/2 year old PB, female Golden Retriever. Venus was surrendered to RAGOM because her owner could no longer care for her. She came in with 2 other dogs (Zeuss and Athena), and lived as an outdoor dog the majority of her life. She seems to be in great physical condition, other than a possible ear infection (imagine that!!?), but we will get her into the vet asap so they can check her out just to make sure all is well! She probably weighs about 70 lbs, maybe less? Has a thick and gorgeous blonde coat, and those wonderful golden retriever puppy dog eyes that are impossible to resist :)

Venus is very, very sweet. Loves to snuggle up on the couch and get some love. She has the typical golden retriever "LOVE ME!!!" thing going on! She does the nose nudge, and the paw... just in case you forget to keep petting her, she will be sure to remind you! She walks pretty well on a leash, a little pulling but not horrible at all. A Gentle Leader would surely help this, or maybe just some training and more work on a leash and that would do the trick. She seems to know the basic commands: sit, down, come. Unknown if she is potty trained? She is very afraid to come down the stairs and a little afraid going in and out of doorways, but will learn it is all ok very fast. She also seems a little hand shy at first.

She met the resident "girls" with a few growls, but nothing major. She is pretty much ignoring them at the moment, but I don't anticipate any problems at all. The wonderful volunteer who temp fostered her last night (THANKS Darci!!) said that she was growly with Sadie, her resident female, at first too. When we came to pick her up it was like they were the best of friends! So... they are just talking in dog language and figuring each other out. I will report back on how it goes with my residents in the days to come.

Venus will make some lucky family a very wonderful companion! We are smitten already :) Stay tuned... and, believe me... her pictures do not do her justice! She wasn't feeling very photogenic tonight :) We'll try for more tomorrow!

Thanks for reading up on Venus!

Sweet V has been adopted! We are so happy for her and her GREAT new parents. Venus, now Nell, will never be short on love and attention... this is just what she needs :) She is a very lucky girl! Thanks Steph and Chris for adopting a RAGOM dog!! This girl will give you so much love!

Venus came to our house almost a month ago and totally had stolen my heart. She is one of the most beautiful goldens I have ever seen. She is also one of the sweetest dogs in the world. I loved how she would wag her tail if you said her name... or even just looked over at you! It was so cute! She was my shadow and kept me company when all of the younger dogs were running and playing... she was always happy to be by my side. She was mellow and quiet, and I thought... gosh, we hardly even notice she is here! Well, now I surely know that she is gone, and I miss her so much. But, she is gone because she found the perfect family. Now, she can move on with her life... and she will be so HAPPY! And around here ... we now have room for another dog that needs a place to stay until they can find their perfect family just like the others before them. RAGOM is just the GREATEST!

Congrats Nell, Steph, and Chris!! We are so happy for all of you! Remember... keep us updated!

Venus got some GREAT news yesterday... she is NOT pregnant! As cute as her babies would have been this is wonderful news :) This means she can now be spayed and move to her FOREVER home! So, that is just what we will do! Venus has a big week ahead of her... On Wednesday she will be spayed and then on Friday she will go home to her new mom and dad!

V has been the PERFECT house guest. She wins the easiest foster award (now, I am not sure she is really THAT easy... or is because we also have WILD MAN foster Moses!) no, but really she is a true GEM. She is so beautiful, and wins compliments wherever she goes. She is an attention hog, which makes her a true GOLDEN! She is shy, which makes foster mom love her even more! She is a girl that we are really going to miss! I know V will be going to the best home ever and that she will be loved SO MUCH! She will have two humans to give her all their love and attention, how cool is that?!! She is going to be a very lucky girl.

Oh, I almost forgot! Venus will now be known as Nell :-) Nell will be with us for 1 more week. We will be loving her up and making sure she knows that we will always love and remember her. Thanks RAGOM for giving us the chance to foster this very sweet girl! (Oh and Venus and FM would like to thank Auntie Connie for getting her up here in the first place!!! THANK YOU CONNIE! You are THE BEST!)

Thanks for reading!

Venus continues to do very well here in foster care. We just love her! She is sweet as pie, smart, BEAUTIFUL, friendly, and loves to love!! So many people came to meet her at PetSmart today! Thanks to everyone who said Hi and gave "V" some hugs and kisses! Venus met a wonderful young couple that came just to see her, and it was LOVE all around! We think they are just perfect for Venus... and best of all, they are willing to wait for her... even if she does have puppies and needs to stay in foster care for an extended period of time.

So, at this point we will need to wait 24 hours and "sleep on it" just to be sure that the "M" family and foster family all still think this is a match made in heaven when we wake tomorrow! We will keep you updated :) Keep your fingers crossed for V!

No matter what happens Venus will be in foster care AT LEAST another 2 weeks so we can either rule out or confirm a pregnancy, and go from there! Stay tuned :-)
