Saturday, December 28, 2019

I was blessed to have Nicole enter my life in 2014 and honored to be her mom until she left us in November of this year. Sweet Momma Nicole never stopped being a "mom" not only with other dogs but also with all of us. We all knew she was in charge of our household and would not have it any other way.

During the years we had together we enjoyed so many "firsts" as this former commercial breeding girl learned all about the golden life. Experiencing her first swim (even though it happened by accident with a fall in the pool) and her first ice cream cone after she helped me do a home visit for another potential adopter.

Nicole helped to "pay it forward" by helping to love and show the way to four foster dogs in our care over the last several years. She also was a caring companion to our former resident dog, Buster, and now our little Paddy.

When I adopted Nicole I thought I was helping her... little did I know the journey she would take us on and how much she would help all of us. Every moment was special from the first time I met her to our last good-bye. We will always be grateful to RAGOM and to her foster mom for rescuing and bringing this gentle soul into our lives that are now forever changed.

Rest in peace, sweet girl... you are in our hearts forever...

Marsha M.

Hi everyone,

Well, it is official -- I am adopted! Wahh Hoo! I have been in my new home for 10 days now and I just love it! I have even started to play with my new brother Buster as he was chasing me around the yard last night! Yep, I did a couple of laps! FM was so happy to hear that news from my mom. I guess it means I am feeling pretty comfortable in my forever home.

Here is a picture of me and Buster on my first day. We quickly worked out the napping positions on the couch. When we take up all this room on the couch, mom has to sit on the floor, but she says she doesn't mind. She sits and pets me. Yeah, I'm loving that!

And here we are hanging in the backyard. This yard is SWEET! Lots and lots of room and a farm behind us so all sorts of new smells for me! The farm even has goats and chickens. I haven't met the goats yet, but I bet one is named Billy. Ah, I crack myself up!

So as I close the chapter in the book of my life, The Foster Time, I am reminded of all of the kind people I have met along the way. From the beginning, FM2, aka Daycare Mom Jean, was there to help with my puppies a lot, as were my rescue dad Kelly and rescue moms Kris, Denise, and Karen. FM's mom and her friends and uncle Chip were there almost daily to play with the pups for socialization and keep us clean, in addition to numerous RAGOM volunteers! It really took a village to raise my crew and we loved every minute of it.

And a BIG BIG Thank You to all of the people that followed my story as well as all of the other momma dogs, their litters, and the dads that were a part of our rescue. We were blessed with donations of supplies and money to help cover some of our costs and we truly appreciate their generosity!

While I will miss living with FM and the resident Doodle foster sisters, I know I will be seeing them from time to time for play as well as some of my puppies and foster sister Whitney too. You see, I've joined the RAGOM Family and being a part of an extended family in addition to my very own forever family is a wonderful thing!

Me and my FOREVER Family!

Now go read up on all of the other WONDERFUL RAGOM dogs. They are waiting patiently to find that special person or family of their very own. My dream took six months and it was worth every minute of it. Now go and make someone else's dream come true! Many have very different stories to tell, and each is worth the love and effort you put into him or her. To be an active part of their journey to witness a dog blossom into the dog they were meant to be is a reward like no other! Trust me, I know of what I speak!

Love,
Nicole

Hi Everyone,

I have some wonderful news to share!  I am Adopting Pending!  I will move to my new home on Saturday.

I have made some incredible strides these past three weeks with little Annie 14-093 living with us.  FM thinks she helped bring out even more of my inner joy!  Plus we have been going to daycare everyday at daycare mom Jean's house and hanging out the Baylee and Joy.  All of the traveling and going places really helped me to grow more and be more confident.

We went for a visit to my new home last Friday night.  I was so comfortable there and was exploring everything.  I jumped up on the couch and then onto my mom's new bed for a quick snuggle.  Yep, it feels like home!

Here are a few pictures of us outside.

Me just hanging out in the grass, taking a break of sniffing all of the new smells.  Yes, that is a Happy Smile on me!

My new handsome brother Buster! Isn't he gorgeous?! Woof Woof!

Buster was walking circles around me strutting his stuff.  Yeah, I think he is a proud man!  And I'll admit, I really did like the male attention!

Little Annie practicing her stick stealing strategy on Buster.  She eventually got the stick.  I'll write another update later once I get moved in.

Hi Everyone, just a quick update for you.  I am doing great and having fun in my foster home.  We have had a new addition to the house these past 3 weeks.  Sweet little Annie 14-093.  She was all of 13 pounds when she got here.  Yes, I went right into momma mode when she got here. Even tried to throw up my food for her a few times because I thought she needed to be weaned.  Well, FM said I don't have to do that anymore.  Annie is fine eating her own food from her own bowl, she's just a little thing.

I am really enjoying having her around.  We get to go to daycare at Jean's house and hang out with Baylee and Joy everyday while FM is at work.  I have really gotten used to the routine of daycare!  FM has noticed quite a few positive changes in me too.  I am starting to play more.  The other night, FM caught me and Annie wrestling on the couch!  That is the first time I have played inside the house since I got here.  So I decided to continue that new found pleasure and Annie and I play each night.  FM says I smile from ear to ear.  Even tonight, when my foster sisters got the zoomies outside, I R-E-A-L-L-Y got into it and gave chase and ran like a dog should and gave a bark of happiness!  FM almost cried.

FM thinks I make great strides after changing up my routine and getting out in the world and having friends over.  Last week, Annie and I went to visit my boy Dylan and his sister Lottie.  He is growing big and strong.  I was getting so comfortable I helped myself to the nice comfy couch!

Then last Saturday, some more of my kids, Chester, Sadie, and Bixby came to play, along with my girl Whitney 13-317, Baylee and Joy, Annie, and my foster sisters of course.

Annie and I getting some treats from daycare Mom Jean.

Me and my gal Whitney hanging out watching the activity and one of Whitney flashing a gorgeous smile. I love seeing her smile!

And one of 17 pounder Annie taking down 50+ pounder Chester.  She's a little spitfire!

I am having an awesome week, I hope you are too!

Love, Nicole

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd catch you up on what has been going on in my life lately. I have been getting out and about to a bunch of Meet and Greets the last six weeks, Chuck & Don's and the office.  My BFFs Raelynne 13-338 and Jill 13-352 have both been adopted, so I am making new friends with Annie 13-316, Hannah 13-349  and Ruby 14-027 at the meet and greets.  I really gravitate to the other mill mommas and find such comfort in them.

In mid-February, my foster sister had a sixth birthday party with her littermates and a ton of friends at The Canine Coach.  My friends were there too and some of my kids.  Here is a sweet picture of "The 4 Mommas".

Left to Right:  Jill, Nicole, RaeLynne, Whitney

My life is not all play, as I have to work too. Here is a picture of me working super hard at the RAGOM office.  Working hard to keep the bed securely on the floor that is!

Since I have been travelling around, I am getting really good at getting in and out of the car.  I have even started to show some interest in looking out the window at times!  Amy L took me on a road trip to a meet and greet in Rochester with her foster Maggie.  I was a little scared and shaking when FM put me in the car, but wouldn't you know it, Maggie, who is usually planted in the co-pilot seat, crawled into the back seat and stayed with me for the whole ride.  That made me feel better.

Even though I am a bit timid at the meet and greets, when I am home, I am a happy camper.  I now trot around in the house wagging my tail and am always on the hunt for a treat from FM! My tail wags non-stop when we get treats.  I am getting really good at checking her hand to see if she has something for me.  And I meet her at the door when she comes home from work and do my happy dance! That makes her smile.

I even follow FM and my foster sisters around and like to hang out in the office with FM when she is on the computer.  There is a tree in the backyard that works well for giving myself a major back-scratch.

I am getting a hunger for knowledge, so I decided to chew a pamphlet-type book thingy about cautious canines that FM left on the coffee table.  In my defense, it had been sitting there since I arrived here last November along with other books and magazines and I didn't touch any of them. FM thinks that my inner dog is coming out more and more each week.  I also took the dog pin brush off the ottoman to chew it a bit.  And, well, there was some chewing on the edge of a dog bed, but I am not admitting to that because FM didn't see me do it.  Just goes to show I am comfortable around here.

Two Sundays ago, we had a bunch of friends and family come to play.  Three of my kids, Sadie (JJ), Chester and Dylan (Oliver), Ruby 14-027, Baylee, and my gal Whitney 13-317!  Oh boy was I happy to see her!  I think it took her a few minutes to get reacclimated since she had not been here since she was adopted, but once I walked up to her and gave her a kiss, she remembered! Though like me, with lots of people around, we are a bit more shy.
Here are some pictures of our fun time.

Me and my girl Whitney!

Starting to like this play thing!

Dylan giving me some love.

My Kids having a blast playing with each other. They sure have grown a lot! No longer the little whippersnappers they were when they went to their new homes! They instantly reconnect each time they see each other.  Warms a mama's heart.

Other than that, life is status quo around here.  With the weather FINALLY breaking into some spring temperatures here and there, FM promises walks will be much more frequent.  That's good because I've been feeling a bit lazy lately being a couch potato and all.  Without kids to tend to on a daily basis, I need more physical activity and mental stimulation. And I am sure the backyard is gonna be prime for mud-wrestling in the next week as all of the snow starts to melt.  FM is so not looking forward to that!

I am still hanging out waiting for that special person or family to call my own. Remember, I need another happy confident dog that likes to play but not be bossy, no kids under 10, a fenced yard, and furniture privileges!  Oh how I love the couch and sleeping in bed. FM says I am an awesome snuggler now.  No rush to get up in the morning as us dogs stay snoozing perched on the pillows while FM gets ready for work.

Saturday and Sunday morning are the best with extended morning snuggle time. I give FM big deep sighs of contentment. She loves hearing that.

Come out and meet me at a meet and greet sometime.  Even though I am a bit shy at those events because of the noise and lots of people, I would still like to be petted.

Love to my fans,

Nicole

================

FM here.  Nicole continues to make wonderful progress in fostercare.  She is so accepting of new dogs and is absolutely a sweetheart.  She is so gentle and non-demanding.  It is wonderful to see her blossom and be happy dancing in the house and seeking out attention from me.  She easily comes in the house and many times is so excited she runs into the house from the backyard.

Once we get out walking on a regular basis, I am hoping she will become even more engaged in the world around her.  She is a true joy to have around.

Well, this super cold weather is just getting ridiculous!  I really want more outside time that I am getting.  We had quite the crew here on Saturday with 11 dogs and we all wanted to run more outside but our paws were getting icy.
My daughter Sadie (JJ 13-375, now 16 weeks old) and little boy Jake (13-415, 9 weeks old -- Jill's boy) were here for the day as well as Jill 13-352, Baylee and Joy.

Here I am giving some attention to Sadie with Jake pushing his way in!  He really wanted to play with Sadie since she is more his size, and really let her know with a nip on the hinney!

It was a big day for Jake as he was getting adopted later that day.  I sure hope he has a great life ahead of him!  I really liked playing with him.  Ok, so I really like playing with little puppies, whether they are mine or someone else's!

RaeLynne 13-338 was on a road trip with her FM, and when she got back we had some good chasing in the backyard!  Look how happy we are!  That is RaeLynne in the front, with me and Jill trailing behind.  Jill was having a good time too.

Other than a super fun Saturday, not much else is new this week.  I snooze away the day on my couch with my foster-sisters and foster-cousins.  I did get to cuddle on the couch with FM for the Superbowl. Though the game was boring, we all really liked the Budweiser ad with the puppy!  My foster-sister likes to bark at all animals on the TV.  And I really like sleeping on the big bed and cuddling with FM in the morning.  That just puts a big smile on my face and a wag in my tail and helps me to trust humans.  So much so that FM says I have to go to a home that allows me to cuddle on the furniture because I don't like it when people are so much taller than me that I shrink away.  When I get to be on their level more often, it really makes me feel better.

I plan on being at the Meet and Greet on Sunday 2/9 at Chuck and Don's in Shakopee if you want to come out and meet me!

Love to my fans,
Nicole

Hi Everyone,
Just checking in to see if everyone is surviving the cold!  I am SO DONE WITH IT!  It needs to warm up so I can get back out on some walks.

The last two weeks have been busy for sure.  I have been going to daycare and hanging out with my good friends RaeLynne 13-338, momma Jill 13-352 and her puppies, Joy and Baylee.  There are also a bunch of kids there for daycare so I am getting quite used to the ruckus the kids make!

Here are a couple of pictures of RaeLynne and I cuddling on the couch...my very favorite spot at daycare.

I like that spot so much, I give FM the stink-eye when it is time to go home and she tries to get me to get off the couch.

I have been busy going to meet and greets on the weekends looking for my forever home.  After the event last Saturday, RaeLynne 13-338, Jill 13-352 and I went over to my boy Dylan's (Oliver 13-379) house for a visit.  I haven't seen him in 5 weeks since he was adopted.  He is a big handsome boy and getting tall -- all 30 pounds of him.

Here he is with his new sister Lottie, a gorgeous English Creme Retriever. She is also a RAGOM girl adopted 8 years ago. I am so happy he is doing so well in his new home.

Well, not much other news from me. Stay warm for the next few days!Love,
Nicole

Hi Everyone!  I had a good time at the Meet and Greet today.  It still scares me a little bit but I was much braver than the last time.  After the meet and greet we went to visit my daughter Holly (Samantha 13-376).  She is growing like a weed and has the most beautiful coat.  I am so happy she is happy!

Here are a couple of pictures of RaeLynne, Holly and me.

And one pic of the gang at bedtime last night.  Joy was not ready to go to sleep!

Have a great week!
Nicole

Monday, December 30, 2013

Hello everyone! I am so sorry I haven't sent in an update in a very long time, but my life has been incredibly hectic.  You see, I was busy weaning all of my kids and finding them the perfect forever homes.  Now that that is all done, I have a little more free time!

My kids were all adopted out between Dec 14 and Dec 17th.  Then on the 19th Ryder came back for babysitting and just went back home yesterday, and sweet Sawyer is here too and goes home tomorrow.  So I guess you can say I am being weaned off of my puppies too!

Here are a few videos.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  I had a very good one that is for sure.  Lots of love, restful naps with my BFF foster sister Whitney 13-317 and good treats.

On Friday, I had my "No more puppies" surgery.  I did really well in surgery and have a clean bill of health.  FM picked me up from the vet that night and I was a bit loopy and unsteady on my feet.  I did not feel up to eating a little dinner so I just hung out on the couch.  Whitney stuck to me like glue and tried to comfort me all night.  I just love that girl!

Here is a picture of Whitney covering me with her love.

We became instant friends when I arrived at my foster home on November 9th with my kids.  From one mom to another, we didn't need any words to understand each other.

By the next morning, I was feeling much better and had a little spring in my step and Ryder and Sawyer were also very sweet to me and giving me kisses. Ah, mothers just love kisses from their kids.  Although I was a little sad too, because Whitney was also adopted that morning and moved to her forever home.  While I am very, very happy that she now has a permanent home, I will surely miss her.

I have some very special people to thank for my holiday icons!  Thank you to Keith K. who, rumor has it, is Whitney's new grandpa!  Thank you for thinking of me!

Also to my special friends Sharon and Todd who came and spent a lot of time with my puppies, me, Whitney and my foster sisters.  You gave us much needed play and socialization time and my foster sisters sure loved the nighttime walks with Todd!

And also to Montana, Zoey, and Barney's parent. Thank you for your generosity!

Now that the holidays are coming to an end, I will begin my search for my forever home in earnest. I am very mellow in the house and pretty much hang out on the couch (Whitney taught me that!) -- even if little Sawyer is playing on me.

I have started to follow FM and my foster sisters around the house as I don't want to be alone in a room, but I am not nervous about it, I just like to have the company.  I am more animated when I am outside as you can see from the videos.

On New Year's Eve, RaeLynne 13-338 and her foster sister Joy are coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks, so I am sure more fun will be had romping around the backyard!  RaeLynne and Whitney came from the same place and she is my friend too.

Just to remind you, I need another medium to large confident dog that enjoys playing in a friendly way.  I also require a physical fence and no kids under 10.

I am a very loving dog that is making great progress in trusting people, but still have a ways to go. I do not resource guard food, toys, or space.  The more time I spend with people on the couch or bed the more confident I become. If you are at my level, I am more relaxed.  I really do like being petted and cuddled, and would love a family that would do that for me every day!

I am available to meet potential forever families now, so if you would like to meet me, please contact your placement advisor!

Love, Nicole

RAGOM is proud to welcome momma Nicole and her beautiful puppies as of Saturday November 9th. They came from a breeder that was retiring due to health issues and wanted his dogs to find wonderful forever homes.

Nicole is momma to the following 8 pups born on October 11, 2013.

Girls: JJ 13-375, Samantha 13-376

Boys: Bixby 13-377, Chester 13-378, Oliver 13-379, Ryder 13-380, Sawyer 13-381, Winston 13-382

Nicole is a 5-year-old female born on March 27, 2008. She is a very sweet, shy girl and is in full momma-mode. She takes good care of her puppies and is incredibly patient when they mob her to nurse.

She enjoys wandering around the backyard sniffing and exploring her new surroundings with fellow foster Whitney 13-317 following close behind. She is hesitant to come into the house by herself, but when on a leash, she easily follows along.

Her energy level is low right now as nursing her kids takes a huge amount of energy. We are in the process of weaning her pups and starting to separate her from them for a couple of hours at a time. As she gets more time away from the puppies, we will begin to she her personality emerge.

As for her medical information, she went to the vet on Tuesday for her wellness check and heartworm test (negative). On Thursday she received her rabies and Bordetella. She is up-to-date on all other vaccinations. She has a staph infection on her belly that we are working to clear up with daily belly baths.

She cannot have oral medications while the puppies nurse. After the pups are weaned, it will take many weeks for her milk to dry up before she can be spayed, most likely in January. She will be available for adoption after her spay. She is available to meet approved applicants before her spay surgery.

Well-wishers and Sponsors:

May the new year bring you your new family! Keith K.
Merry Christmas to a good momma, from Sharon and Todd
