Nugget 01-248

Profile

On April 17, 2010 this great boy called Nugget came into our home for foster care.  Nugget was born in 1-28-01 and is 9.5 years of age.  He had a long trip from Minnesota to here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Nugget came in with Lucky, with whom he had lived for 9 years.  Nugget is smaller, petite (and overweight) blonde golden who has the personality that anyone could possibly want.  Has a ‘frosted’ muzzle and curly hair. He is gentle, loving, sensitive and loves his human(s).  We are very lucky to have this little guy in our home and just a darling guy.  Here is what we know to date:

  • Nugget came from a  home where he grew up with another golden for 9 years
  • Part of those years, (approximately 8 ½) was with a cat also, and a child who is now 17
  • Nugget is neutered and current on all vaccinations and front-lined (soon to be groomed) and has had a dental cleaning (had two teeth pulled due to abcess)
  • Nugget traveled fine in the vehicle here (some panting as a long trip from stress of relocation and losing his life-long buddy) but otherwise fine
  • Totally housetrained and has free roam of the house
  • Is wonderful with the rest of the foster pack which consists of 3 dogs and 3 cats
  • Is a petite little guy who is ‘full-figured’ and needs his exercise and finally a good diet
  • Nugget loves to take a walk; he walks very nice and has went 2-3 miles with no problem
  • Loves his humans and wants to be by you as much as he can (lots of tail wags)
  • Gets along with cats great; totally ignores them
  • Gets along great with other dogs, neighbor dogs, and dogs on walks; a very social well rounded/social golden

Nugget was a prior adopted boy of Ragom in 2001 as a young pup from a bad situation along with another pup.  He recently has been surrendered (with his 'brother' of 9 years, Lucky) due to a move.  His ‘brother’ is 11 years old and in another foster home---therefore of course, he has been used to a partner all of his life.  (So very sad they had to be separated.)  In the short time of coming to us for foster care, he has adjusted great with his new pack.  He follows me most everywhere, has a happy tail wag and is very content to be inside and be part of the family.  All in all considering that, he is doing wonderful.  If Nugget was allowed, he would love to jump up by you on the couch, chair, bed or outdoor swing.  A snuggly little guy.  Sweet gentle little brown eyes and ears that are just a hoot with the ‘tilt’ and longer, curly fur. What a great little boy!

Oh my gosh, our lovely Nugget went 'home' today.  His mom, AM, are going to be a super team and family.  Nugget will be getting regular massages too!  I am really going to miss him as we did become great buddies.  Again, he is one of the best fosters you could ask for.  I am so glad for everyone.  AM is just the greatest gal and traveled a VERY long way to meet our boy.  It is truly a 'sunny' day for all of us and a couple great companions will begin their new lives together from here forward.  I am really going to miss you Nugget and to AM again, for traveling so very far to adopt this magnificant golden boy.  It was a real pleasure to meet you.  FM~

Some new photos of this great boy.    I just cannot say enough good things about Nugget.  He so looks forward to his walks every day.  He loves walks and behaves so well, no stop and pee all the time, just ‘let’s walk and have a good day.”  Nugget is always in a good mood and happy to so you.  He has the best disposition and personality.  Nugget has total freedom with the rest of the pack when we are gone.  Never a problem.  Nugget gets along with everyone, we even brought in another cat to kitty-sit and he didn’t care. (our daughter’s cat).  He has the most gentle, lovely boy ever.  He is great with kids. Never really heard him bark.  He chimed in a time or two when the other 3 were barking at something but quickly stops.

Nugget listens very, very well.  He will sit on his haunches with paws up and patiently wait for a snack.  He does know lay down, wait, come, get-it, sit, roll over.  He knows when it is time for bed at night, the crew all goes to their respective spots as does Nugget.  Sleeps all night quietly.  This is one boy who is a real happy camper when you come home from work!  He has a great ‘nuggie-wiggle’ and his tails just goes.  Always a happy boy.  Nugget loves to be pet, belly rub, brushing, you name it…..personal contact is his thing.  He is fine with the other crew totally.

He is very friendly when meeting other dogs.  He does not chase anything and is not interested in squirrels or anything like that.  He enjoys a good dog chew/bone and is very respectful when the others have one at the same time.  Everyone eats in harmony and no problems there. I will be anxious to see what he weighs again here soon so see if he has lost some weight.  He is on a good diet and a much smaller amount.  He likes his food with some cottage cheese, Blue moist food, chicken broth or just plain. He sit beautifully and very patient for a snack.

We have a full flight of carpeted stairs and he can go up and down those with no problem.  He is really in good shape.  He has golden coat with some curl and it just glistens in the sun.  He has this face that just makes you melt!  Nugget is the type of golden boy who can do well with other dogs or not, with or without cats, kids or no.  Nugget is a total delight to foster and you cannot have much better than him.  There are no physical issues with Nugget and he is in great health.  He acts more like 4 or so.  I look forward to our walks every day together with Maggie, our mix who is 9 also.  He just makes you feel good when he is around because he is so content.  One wonderful golden boy and a great foster, we are very fortunate.

Nugget is doing just wonderful. What a lovely foster boy! Nugget is doing super.  This is like the most wonderful foster boy!  He does so well with all the other pets, fantastic with the cats.  He has jumped up in bed with me with a couple cats and totally fine.  Nugget really enjoys his walks and keeps up with a 2-3 miler no problem.

Nugget really loves people and be by you and around you.  He rides great in the car, jumps right in!  He is very respectful of other pets and people.  He does not  bark.  He is fine with free roam while I am gone at work for 4-5 hours.  Very happy to see you when you are home!  Little butt is going and so is the tail.  His personality is just the best.  He does not beg for food, does not grump ever, just always a happy boy.

Nugget has great recall and does not wander far from me.  He would rather be in by us than outside with the other dogs.  He just lays by me nice, listens very well and totally content.  He takes treats nicely and no begging.  His diet has been cut way down and amazingly enough, he is fine with a much less amount of food that what he had when he came in!  He is eating Nurti-Source Adult Chicken & Rice.  He too, enjoys ‘additions’ to it.  Cooked chicken, green beans, chicken broth.  He has his pillow on the floor by my side of the bed and at bedtime, everyone goes to their spot and Nugget too, right on his pillow and stays there all night.  Just perfect.  What a wonderful foster indeed.Really enjoy having this little guy.

Ok our boy went to the beauty parlor and got all spiffed up.The prior coat was so chopped up, scraggly and uneven, we wanted to start over(s)!  He did wonderfully at the groomer and everyone loved him!  He is a good boy.  I think he really feels better all clean and nails clipped and ready for summer.  He is so petite, warm loving eyes, small feet and very soft coat.  I will predict when it all grows out and brushing/grooming is kept up, it will really be beautiful, not to mention a few pounds off too.  He is such a cutie pie had to share with everyone our new look! We are all ready to go.
