Profile

Odin came from a commercial breeding facility. While he generally acts like a typical puppy, Odin also shows signs of undersocialization and is learning about indoor living from his canine mentor. He will need another dog in his forever home. Any children must be over 10 and gentle. Odin would love a physically fenced yard to run and play in, but a fence is optional if a plan is in place to keep him safe and sufficient exercise is provided. He has not been tested with cats.

Odin met a wonderful family who fell in love with him. He will have a furry, 4-legged friend to play with in his new home. This little guy is amazing! He learned so much in the time he stayed with us and found his way into our hearts. We will definitely miss him!

Well, we have had Odin for a couple of weeks now, and he is a quick study. He clearly loves gorgeous weather as much as we do and wants to be outside. He continues to explore and is doing really well with potty training. He does love to eat sticks, so I am constantly finding other things that are more interesting for him to chew on.

Odin continues to pick up the clothes and miscellaneous items from my son's floor, but not in a way that is any more helpful. Moreover, he loves to grab my daughter's socks, too. They are small enough to eat and large enough to cause a big problem, so we have to watch him closely.

He is becoming more comfortable and less timid, and definitely finding his way. He is curious and loves to smell everything!

Odin is a sweet, smart, vibrant, and very busy puppy. He is really affectionate and will forego a walk outside for more scratching behind the ears and under the chin. He still gets the walk, too, so he can wear off some of that puppy energy.

He is playful and loves our resident dog who is patient most of the time. With her as a mentor, Odin is learning how to be a dog.

He has a voracious appetite, and I am guessing, over time, the urge to eat will slow down when he realizes that the food will always come.

Previously, Odin had not been in a house, so there are lots of new things to learn. He is working on potty training and has mastered the steps, although he still lacks a bit of coordination. Amusingly, Odin pulled the bedding out of the kennel last night and then pulled it down the stairs, letting me know that he was not interested in sleeping in it. We repeated this exercise 3 times before he realized that he was not going to win this one.

Regarding children, we requested ages 10+ because we are unsure of how he will respond to younger kids, children crying or screaming, etc. Additionally, he seems afraid of the vacuum and some other loud noises and sounds.

He is quick with grabbing and chewing! So, just remember to keep socks and miscellaneous items out of this guy's reach; he could swallow them and get an intestinal blockage. Our resident dog was a sock thief, and we had to be incredibly watchful.

Odin loves chew toys, especially the Kong chew toys, and stuffed dog toys. He is an explorer and will quickly move out of your view, so expect to stay busy with him. These are some of my observations from our first week with Odin.
