Oliver 11-136 is a 3-1/2 year old purebred male Golden Retriever with a beautiful red coat. Oliver comes to RAGOM from a family in the Stillwater area who had time constraints and we’re very thankful to them for contacting RAGOM for their difficult decision as we realize they have choices. Oliver has been a delight to foster here in northern MN and he’s having a great time exploring the woods, water, and critters that are all over. I’ve had Oliver for a short time and here’s what I’ve found about him – besides that he’s an absolutely wonderful dog!
Oliver weighs a nice 73 lbs. and is lean and firm. He is scheduled to be neutered on May 6th and he’s completely updated with his shots and vaccinations – our thanks to our friends at the Garrison Animal Clinic!
Oliver is a beautiful dog with a stunning red color to his coat and with fancy tail feathers and with a nice soulful face. He loves to cuddle and be petted!
Oliver is a very calm dog who’s adjusted nicely to his foster home. He’s completely housetrained and crate trained and lets you know when he has to go outside. He does his duties outside in the woods which is great for the yard! He was raised in a fenced yard and seems to respect outside boundaries.
Oliver loves to play with his toys and will let you take them away easily. He does like to chew but his chew bones seem to satisfy his chew cravings. He has not counter surfed and doesn’t seem to have an interest in either the garbage or dishwasher.
Oliver gets along great with kids of all ages, other dogs and cats, and doesn’t seem to be startled by loud noises. He likes to lay in the sun and sleeps at nite in our room on the floor. He has jumped on the couch once and then jumped right off when told to. He does jump up slightly when meeting new people but I think he’ll outgrow that soon.
Oliver had previously been crated for long hours and now has free roam of the house and is crated when we are gone. He walks very well on a leash and seems to be doing well on our daily 4-5 mile walks. It’s important that Oliver receive a daily walk as it seems to fit his personality very well and he enjoys his walks greatly. I think he would also make a good jogging partner as he loves to run and seems quick to learn.
Oliver knows the basic commands and has completed an obedience training class but would likely benefit from a refresher class or further training. He loves to play fetch and retrieves nicely and is learning how to drop the ball instead of playing with it. Olive rides great in the car and loves his rides!
Oliver has only barked once while in the house and once while he was outside but this is when he spotted a wolf down the road. I don’t think he’s much of a barker.
I think Oliver would fit nicely in just about any home and either with kids or not. He seems to get comfortable right away in just about any environment. He’s a great dog that needs a great home!
