Oz is a beautiful 3 year 10 month old purebred male Golden Retriever with a gorgeous golden/light red color with a full coat. Oz comes to RAGOM from a family who unfortunately had to move and we thank them very much for taking loving care of Oz and contacting RAGOM to help find him his new “furever” home. Oz weighs about 80 lbs. – perfect for his size according to Dr. Katy at the Garrison Animal Hospital – and is currently up-to-date on his shots and will be neutered soon. Oz is a wonderful, happy, and great dog with all the traits that we love about Golden Retrievers. Listed below is what I know about Oz and have experienced since I began fostering him.

  • Oz is fully house trained, crate trained, tells you when he needs to go out, and has free roam of the house
  • Oz knows all the basic commands such as sit, stay, and shake and is a fabulous ball and toy retriever
  • Oz walks very well on a leash and thoroughly enjoys his daily walks
  • While Oz is enthusiastic about everything life offers, he is also a calm and patient dog
  • Oz does have AKC paperwork and a Litter Certificate. Oz was born on 12/4/07
  • Oz gets along great with persons of all ages including small children and is very patient with them
  • Oz plays well with other dogs of all sizes and gets along great with cats and even birds!
  • Oz loves the water and is a great swimmer
  • Oz is a bit of a Velcro dog and is very affectionate and loves to be near people
  • Oz plays great with his toys and loves to be given treats

Oz would fit very well with just about any family or single person as he has a great personality and demeanor. Oz is always happy and his tail wags constantly. Please contact RAGOM if you would like further information about Oz and Oz thanks you for looking at his webpage!

Oz has been with us 6 weeks now. He is doing much better, relaxed and feeling like part of the household.

Oz has learned many good behaviors while he has lived with us. Tyson has taught him to play better, they wrestle and play tug of war. Oz is the dominate one and Tyson will let him take toys. Oz has stopped most of the mouthy behavior with humans. We have had lots of interest in Oz, but we think the perfect family has stepped up to adopt Oz. We will let you know when everything is official.

Oz has been with us for 3 weeks now. He is settling in nicely since the first week. He has healed from his infection caused by ripped neuter stitches and an ear infection. He and Tyson, resident GR, have figured out how to live with each other - it took a week and several growly rounds, but Tyson lets Oz win. The boys are playing together much better now. They play tug of war with toys.  Each watches for any dropped toys and quickly claims them - all without issue. They are completely fine laying next to each other to receive love and attention from anyone with hands.  Do you have hands to give Oz some pets?  Oz has earned the ability to be gated off during the day instead of the crate; and he has free roam when we are home and and during the night. Mr. Oz loves to be around his people and would love a family that wants to just pet him all day. The poor guy gets sad and whimpers when he can't be near us. He wants to be a companion to someone!  Oz wants to help with the Christmas baking, but it turns out no one wants doggie hair in their cookies, so he has to hang out away from the kitchen--which is not his favorite, but oh well.

Oz loves playing in the snow and I couldn't resist capturing how cute he looked here.

Last night, we got the boys to pose by the tree, I am guessing they were dreaming of new bones.

Maybe Santa will bring them each one!

Oz is a very smart boy and has learned many new tricks and he is losing some bad habits. Here he is learning to hold a treat on his nose and catch it in the air. He got really good at scrambling to find the ones Tyson drops.

What a smart guy!

It turns out Oz isn't a big fan of cats, so should probably go to a family without them.

Oz is starting to settle into our home, but he is an active dog. He loves to keep busy by chewing on toys. He will need an active family that will give him plenty of exercise, so he will be able to chill out during the evening hours.

If you think Oz might be a match for your family, please contact your Placement Advisor to set up an appointment.

Oz has a pending adoption with a wonderful family and will be placed with them mid-November. Oz has turned out to be a spectacular dog who has really adopted the north country lifestyle. Oz has continued to impress us with his great manners, patience, and fun-loving spirit. We know Oz will be a great addition to his new family and we couldn’t be happier for him!
