Rusty — whom we called Paco — was a once in a lifetime dog. Words cannot express the utter joy he brought to our lives and the lives of others. People would see him on the street and couldn't help but smile. He had such a way about him, love oozed out of him and he made everyone happy. He was a great addition to our family, his sister (a fellow golden) Pita, loved playing with him and they would enjoy weekly if not daily trips to the dog park together. Paco always wanted to be close…giving his undivided love and attention to anyone that would receive it. Being his "mom" was one of the greatest honors of my life, he made me a better, happier and more confident person. A month ago Paco was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer. He had a short, but great response to medication and lived out his last few weeks eating heartily and playing feverishly. We took daily trips to the dog park and spent hours snuggling on the couch — his favorite spot. Despite the best efforts and treatments the Lymphoma took over his body and with his family at his side, Paco passed peacefully almost exactly 2 years to the date he came to live with us. Words cannot express the heartache and void that has been left in his place. We all miss him so terribly, but are glad that he is no longer suffering. He was part of our family, he was the best friend I've ever had. We love you Paco boy, rest in peace. Bethany B. |
