Paddy/Scout 01-069

Profile

Paddy is one of three young puppies who were rescued from a Backyard Breeding situation. Why? Because RAGOM screens families, requires spay/neuter, and checks health. BYB's do not. We wanted to ensure that these young pups were adopted by prepared, committed families, and that they would enjoy life in a home where they would not be bred - further propagating the problems created by unconcerned BYB's! Paddy is a sweet, friendly puppy who is anxious to meet her forever family and start her forever wonderful life!!

With much sadness, I pass along the news that my sweet princess has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Scout celebrated her 13th birthday a short time ago and even with arthritis and a little 'old lady leakage', was in good health and spirits. She even caught a bunny last November! She was a good critter catcher-much to her momma's dismay. So proud of herself!

I have had Scout since she was a RAGOM baby and she has helped well over 50 of our fosters along the path to their new forever homes. Always with the initial warning to them not to get too close at first meeting. And always willing to play soon after. She loved the water, snow angels and chasing birds and bunnies. Scout gave me a bark every evening to let me know that the water in the bowl was not fresh enough for her liking. She was a princess! She loved her RAGOM brothers Skye 06-206 and Grizz 10-159. She loved her dog friends Moose 09-467, Nellie, Toby 05-123 and Betsy 10-380--they all spent many days and nights together over the years. She loved and was loved so dearly by many people.

We feel so blessed to have had her for so many years! We knew her time was not long but still, the suddenness has taken me by surprise. Last week, she was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma--a tumor the size of a football on her spleen. I did not want her to suffer nor for it to rupture. She was still feeling pretty good when the vet came to our home to help her on her final journey. With her head in my lap and surrounded by her fur family, she went peacefully to sleep for the last time.

Oh how we miss her!
