Please welcome Paris 13-169 to RAGOM!  Paris has not yet been Spayed and will be available in early July.

I was rescued on June 16  with 2 other dogs and my birthday is 11/20/12.  My foster mom said this makes me 7 months old, I have no idea what that means but she says I am still a young girl.  I had a long ride from South Dakota to my Foster home and that was very scary.  I was happy that I got to share a cage with my sister Juno 13-170 although I don’t think she was as happy because I peed on her, oops.

I like where I am they let me roam around the house although foster mom and dad are not happy when I go to the potty, I am not sure why they don’t like it.  When I go outside all I want to do is jump and follow my foster brother.  I don’t like going into the metal cage upstairs it is scary but I only have to go into it at night.  The plastic cage downstairs is much nicer and I go in pretty well.

I like to do what my foster brother does.  He has these orange balls and I will get one when he does, he has bones and I get dental treats when he does.  I like to lay on the floor near him I feel safe when he is around.  I love to chew on things, the living room table is by far my favorite yummy wood.

I was at the vet yesterday and it was really scary all these people coming in and out of the room, but they sat on the floor with me and I survived.  I have an ear infection, a skin infection and very dirty ears, now I have to get stuff in my ears and take more baths, I would rather hide in the corner.  I heard foster mom set up an appointment for something called spaying dropping me off on June 30th.  I don't know what that is but it means another car ride and going to that scary place so I am sure I don’t want to go.

These people in this house like to do a lot of things and I get scared anytime they get up and move around, are they coming to get me I sure hope not!  I will come up and lick foster moms hand when she is low on the couch and holds her hand out palm up.  She seems nice but I don’t like when she looks at me.  She had a nice voice and will pet me but it is still scary.    I like that someone is around all day even though she is on a computer working it is nice not to be in a cage.

I know at some point I will have to go to something called a meet and greet I am not sure what that is but it does sound scary.  Foster Mom said that there are a lot of people there, I don’t think I want to go to one of those for a while as a lot of noise, movement and people scare me.

Foster mom here…I am really happy that Paris is here in our house she seems to come out of her shell when around our resident dog and that is pretty good.  She also doesn’t hide except when we try to get hold of her.  She is a beautiful little girl and is learning to be a dog.

Paris is doing very good! She is warming up to us more each day. She is a very happy playful girl. She is still cowering down when we walk up to her and when she goes through a door. She is seeking out pets from us, especially when the resident dogs are doing the same.

I took Paris to a RAGOM get together on Sunday. She walked nicely on her leash when other dogs are with her. When she is the only dog I use the Gentle Leader and she is walking nice with that. We have taken a few longer walks with her and will continue to lengthen them over the next few days.

Paris loves the water! I have been putting out a pool for the dogs on the hot days. She is in and out of it and will lay down in the water to cool off and play with a ball. The weather has cooled a bit so I put the pool away for a few days. That does not stop Paris from finding some water to play in. She puts her front paws in the drink bucket I have outside for the dogs. She has just as much fun with that and gets just about as wet as if she had gone into the pool. She is a silly puppy! She also went to her dog friends' birthday party. She had a lot of fun playing with the birthday girls Ruby 12-416 and Jewel 12-415 (both have been adopted) and many other dog friends.

Paris likes to chew on toys and bones. She is still a puppy and does need supervision to keep her from chewing on things she should not have. I am taking her outside on a regular schedule. She is doing all of her business outside but is not giving signals that she needs to go out.

If you would like to meet Paris she will be at a Meet & Greet at Chuck & Don's (Edina, MN) Sun, July 28, 12pm – 2pm.

Paris is now being fostered in Inver Grove Heights. She has been with me for a week now. This is what I have learned about her. She is very shy and afraid of people when they stand over her. She will come up to me for treats and pets when I am down on her level. She loves the other dogs in the house and wants to play play play all the time. She is still a very young dog and has lots of energy. She sleeps in her crate at night and is keeping it clean. She is not potty trained but we are working on that and she is doing very good. She will go potty outside when I tell her to go. That's half the battle! She has not had any accidents in the house but I have not given her free roam, she is always next to me in the house or in her crate. Next week we will expand her boundaries and see how she does. I have started taking her for short walks outside of the fenced yard. At first she would lay on the ground when I would pull her leash to get her to move forward. It is very hard to walk a dog that refuses to stand up. When she is up she is doing circles around me. I'm sure my Neighbors are getting a good laugh. Now we are working with the Gentle Leader. It is still hard to get her to move but it is definitely getting better. In a few more days we might make it around the block. Paris did not want to eat when she first came to me. She would only eat If I hand fed her, that is also better she is now eating her food on her own. Yesterday was the first time I have heard her bark. The resident dogs were playing in the living room and Paris heard them and let us know she wanted to play too. She is coming out of her shell a little bit more each day. She is a puppy mill dog and will need another dog in her forever home to help her learn from and to play with. Did I mention she likes to play? She will also need a fence to help keep her safe and no small children. She likes kids and does fine when they are around but kids are fast and loud and that does scare her. In time Paris is going to be a very normal and loving companion. If you would like to meet Paris please contact your placement advisor.

Hi Everyone Paris again. Well the last week and a half have been crazy around here, there have been two kids Zach and Lindsay who have visited and two really big men. I like the kids they are closer to me but the big guys are so tall they were scary until they sat down.

Foster Mom took me to that scary office again and this time she LEFT me there I was horrified because Stanley wasn’t with me.  She said she would come back but I wasn’t sure, she also told me they were going to do something called fixing me I didn’t think there was anything to fix I am great how I am.  She did come back for me and I was so excited I ran right to her through the office, I think I like her now.

The doctor told her I did really well and stuck to another RAGOM dog that was there too but I still missed Stanley my foster brother. The doctor also told her that I have something wrong with my skin, they don’t know what it is and won’t know for 3 weeks so I have to continue with these baths and I have antibiotics to take with my pain meds. I will let Foster Mom talk now.

Foster mom here.  Well Paris is starting to come out of her shell, I think having visitors has helped with this. There was noise and activity and she did really well. She is doing ok with potty training we have to go out every 45 minutes and we don’t let her back in until she goes potty. Stanley is great with sharing, he lets her take toys right out of his mouth and lets him do the same.  She is much more animated and wags her tail a lot more. She no longer jumps when someone moves. I believe once she is over the skin problem we will be able to bring her to a meet and greet.

I will be sad because she goes to a new foster next week as my husband and I are both traveling for work. This little girl will be a great addition to a family who has a lot of time and patience as you have to watch her and stay outside to make sure she does go potty outside.

Hey this is Lindsay the girl who is visiting Paris. Paris is a very sweet dog who loves to play with her foster brother Stanley. She likes to steal stuff from him, but they usually share after a while. I feel like she should get adopted because she is cute and a great dog. I love her and I’ll miss her when I have to go home.

So, some things we learned and some requirements for Paris:

  • She is ok with cat’s, she plays rough with one of ours and ignores the other.
  • She needs a strong dog as a role model.
  • She likes chuck-it balls and will go get them and will also play with them by herself.
  • She fights getting in the cage but once you get her by the door she does ok.
  • If you cage her keep her in the same room as you.
  • She is a chewer and has chewed up her leather leash while tethered to me.
  • She loves to chew wood.
  • She really likes to run you around in circles when on her leash, she makes me dizzy.
  • Physical Fence
  • No Children under 12
  • Another dog who can tolerate a puppy and has training to help her learn.
