Peaches 08-389

Profile

Peaches the Precious has joined the RAGOM family and is looking for her forever home. Peaches, along with Romeo, were seized from a puppy mill situation in Iowa. They have lived their first 4-5 years in a pig shed. It would surely ruin my disposition and attitude toward the human race! Not so with Peaches! She is a delightful, energetic, happy and a loving girl.

I would estimate her weight at 55 pounds and consider her petite in size. She is a lovely deep golden color with expressive eyes that could melt any heart. She is fully vetted with the exception of being spay. Her vet visit is scheduled for this afternoon and she will be checked to see if she maybe pregnant.

Peaches did not experience puppy hood. Everything is new and exciting to her. It is truly fun to watch her explore her new world!  Because of her rough beginning in life she does have some needs to be addressed. One of these is submissive urination. When you bend over her, leash her for a walk, or take a more dominant posture she will urinate. I have seen an improvement as I adjust and find ways of helping her feel more secure. Peaches also uses her paw to gain attention and likes to jump up, actually the most gentle jump up I have ever seen. Both of these traits may be startling to younger children. Peaches will need to live with another dog so she can continue to gain confidence and follow the lead of a more secure canine friend.

Just me, Peaches, checking in... I had to go to the vet today. Mom noticed I had a sore on my head and I was scratching at it...well if you itch...scratch is my motto. Dr. Deb had Katie give me a new "do". Not sure what you would call it but sending a picture so you can name the hairdo! I have some medicine to take and my hair will grow in again soon. FM said it was a hot spot and it is good to take care of it as soon as possible. I was really good at the vet office even when they gave me a shave. FM said I am still Peaches the Precious Princess....even with a shaved head!

Here is a quick overview of what Peaches will need in her forever home:

Children older then 10. She is working on keeping all four paws on the floor!
A dog friend to keep her company and teach her new things.
Family willing to spend quality time with her as she gains confidence and experiences her world.
Obedience training so she can become the wonderful companion she was meant to be.
Fenced yard would be great.  She is learning to come when called and likes to be near her people.
Patience as she continues to move forward.
Country setting maybe best as she is doing some howling when alone.
Schedule so she knows what to expect and when.
Understanding that she still has some puppy traits.
Daily walks or runs and outside playtime.
Lots of toys....! (Peaches idea!)

Is this your family? Peaches would like to meet you!

High Five!!!!

It's Frisbee time!

Good news for Peaches!  She is not pregnant.  She will be spayed on September 4, take a few days to recuperate and be ready to find her special family.  It is time for Peaches to just be a dog not a Mama dog that needs to care for another litter.  I see improvement each day as she meets and learns to handle new challenges.  When Peaches first arrived she would hold herself from urinating for 12 hours!  I was amazed and baffled.  Our vet thinks she really didn't know exactly what to do when taken out on her leash.  She does now and is housebroken. I guessed Peaches weight at 55...add 10 pounds to that!  That is a good weight for her and maybe even losing 5 would be best.  She sure enjoys eating and will clean Kodi's dish if he is a slow eater.

Toys!  I have toys to play with so now I'm learning how to play.
