Please welcome Yang Yang to RAGOM! We quickly learned that Yang Yang did not answer to her name, so we have been calling her Peaches. Peaches arrived from China as part of RAGOM’s international rescue program.
Peaches is about 1-2 years old, healthy, happy, and ready to find her forever loving family. She has adapted quickly and seamlessly to our lives here in the Midwest.
Now that Peaches has recovered from her overseas journey, we are learning so much about her. The first thing you’ll notice about Peaches is her calm and loving nature.
In typical Golden Retriever fashion, she loves to be with you and shows off her favorite toys - a tennis ball and a blue plushie turtle that she picked out at PetCo herself. She loves her food and is not a picky eater at all. You'll be fast friends as long as you can provide lots of affection, attention, and treats!
Peaches is an avid attention seeker and is often successful with how adorable she is. She is currently enjoying time here in the Midwest going on fun walks, being brushed outside in the grass, and getting good scratches behind the ears & on her belly (her favorite spots).
We typically spend 10-15 minutes brushing her every day as she does have a gorgeous thick mane, ensuring she will enjoy the winters more than the summers. While we work, or if we need to run out and leave her at home, she typically finds a good napping spot and relaxes in the sunlight.
Whenever I end a meeting with "thanks everyone for joining and have a great rest of your day", she waddles over to me knowing it's time for belly rubs.
Peaches is very attentive and will be a quick learner for any future tricks & training she may undergo. She gets lots of attention at the park and sits happily for all kids and adults. She enjoys going on walks so much and is great on a leash.
We’ve met a lot of other dogs on our walks, and while she happily gives them a social hi or sniff, she is way more excited to be out on a walk. Sometimes she just wants to lay in the grass at the park, smell the wind, and dream about catching those naughty squirrels.
She would be great in a home with other dogs and with kids of any age. Her future home should not have shared walls, as Peaches has been barking. While it is a softer bark than most dogs her size, it would be preferable that the sounds of neighbors are minimized.
A physical fence is optional for Peaches, but she will require her future family to provide a plan to keep her safe when outside. She has become very interested in the wildlife here in the Midwest, and will be quick to chase down a squirrel or bird given the chance.
Due to her prey drive, living with cats would not be in her best interest. We have a long tie-out tether leash in our backyard (between two trees) which allows her to relax, play fetch, and run. She has a great time playing ball, although she tires out very easily.
After a fun day of exploring, she enjoys some peace and quiet in her kennel, and you will probably hear some contented snoring! Peaches will be a great companion and addition to any family.
