Penny 08-044

Profile

Say 'hello' to Penny! Penny was picked up as a stray by a Good Samaritan who contacted her owners. Unfortunately, Penny's owners did not want her back. It certainly wasn't any fault of Penny's! Penny is ALWAYS in a good mood. She is one of those perpetually happy, young dogs. Even when my resident older female is growling at her, nothing but tail wags and grinning from Penny. After sleeping in bed with the rest of us last night, she woke up HAPPY! Just giving everybody kisses!

A few details about Penny. She is 1.5 years old--a mix of Golden Retriever and Yellow Lab-on the small side. She is current on all her shots but still needs to be spayed. Penny has most likely had at least one litter of puppies in her short life. She occasionally chews on her feet so she may have some allergies. A trip to the vet this week will tell all. Penny lived in a family with 8 children so we know she does well with them. She gets along great with other dogs and shows no aggression. Not sure how she is with cats. Penny knows her basic commands and seems very smart. She is treat oriented too, so she will pick up on training quickly.

Check out how comfortable she is in our house already. Get your dibs in on Penny as she will make a fabulous family dog.

Penny had her spay surgery and is nicely recovering from that. She also tested positive for Lyme's disease so is on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Since she had no symptoms of the disease, she should have no repercussions.

Today Penny went home to her forever family! Julane and Rod A will give Penny the wonderful life she so deserves. She will be loved by a large extended human and canine family. I couldn't be happier. Skye, Scout and I will miss her. Congratulations, PenPen!

Penny here! I met two nice families that REALLY liked me! I'm hoping they come through for me and I can find a forever family of my very own. Don't get me wrong--I love foster mom and my foster siblings. FM takes me to all kinds of fun places. Yesterday I went to Smiley 08 020's foster house and we played for an hour in the back yard. Check us out sitting on top of the hot tub! I wanted to get in it and go swimming but FM wouldn't let us. Something about burning out the filter with all the dog hair. But seriously, I don't shed like Skye and Smiley do.

I have learned that I need to 'sit' and 'wait' till FM fills the food bowls and then says "ok" before I tear into my food. I am starting to eat a little slower but not much. I am also learning to take treats 'gently' instead of grabbing for them. I love to go for walks and FM says I need the Gentle Leader to walk nicely without pulling. I don't like that Gentle Leader but since Scout and Skye have to wear one when we walk, I guess I will too.

What I really want in my forever home is a family that will love me and not give me away again. I am very snuggly and will love you to death. Once I am comfortable I will play. Another dog to play with would be OK but I don't have to have one. A fence is nice too but I don't have to have one of those either. Just a human or two to love and adore is all I need. Then you will hear me moan with contentment (FM says I do this all the time) as I snuggle in beside you.

Penny is settling in nicely with her new foster fur friends. She is playing with Skye boy and trying to play with my standoffish female. I think of all of my fosters, Penny will get Scout to play! She is just so friendly and happy. I have to get home when it's still light out so I can get pictures of her playing outside.

Penny will go to the vet for a pre-spay check up tomorrow. She is fully house trained and already has free roam while I am at work. She is not destructive and doesn't chew. Penny is learning to walk nicely with the Gentle Leader and my dogs are showing her the way. She sleeps quietly through the night snuggled on the bed with the rest of us. She doesn't counter surf, doesn't guard her food or toys with dogs or people, doesn't jump fences, doesn't jump up on people and doesn't bark excessively. Penny is a nice smaller sized pup who is active but not crazed. Her only bad habit is eating too fast! I am working at slowing her down so that she doesn't choke herself. What more could you ask for in a dog?

Come meet Penny at the PetCo in Maple Grove from 11-2 on Saturday 2/16.
