I am very happy to report that Penny has been adopted. She has been a wonderful guest in our house over the past few months. Beneath her rough-looking nose is a sweet soul who just needs a comfortable home. She has come a long way from being found with broken bones in a parking lot at 6 months of age.
Her new family will love her like crazy and have said they will not mind her sleeping on their dining room table once in a while.

Penny continues to do well in her foster home. She has tolerated some long workdays being alone with free rein of the house without much trouble.
She has been pulling the tablecloth off our dining table when we are gone. We had assumed she was looking for food, but have now caught her sleeping on the bare table.
She had her teeth cleaned last week and did well, except she really does not like being crated. She does have some ground-down teeth and she has an underbite that I think adds to her cuteness.
I have been putting soup over her kibble, thinking she may have trouble chewing, but now I realize she just prefers soup; she rarely touches her food until the soup is added.
She really enjoys our walks and does very well on a leash. She is a little stubborn in determining which path we take. She will stand still until she gets her way. With some encouragement, I can convince her to go my way.
She wags her tail at all dogs we have met and has instigated play with some of them. I am thinking she may want another dog as a companion.

Penny is a very sweet dog who recently returned to RAGOM's foster care. She was initially found in 2014 with broken bones on two legs, three ribs, and her right orbit; she had a bullet in her back left leg; and she was heartworm-positive.
She was brought back to good health by a RAGOM foster and was eventually adopted out. Sadly, her adoptive family became ill and could no longer care for her.
Penny has the markings of a mixed breed, but the friendly disposition of your typical Golden Retriever. She loves being petted and will give you a soft growl or whine if you are not being as attentive as she wishes you to be.
She likes her walks and is a good walker on a leash. She likes car rides and sits quietly in the back seat. She is a polite beggar and likes some soup on her kibble. She sleeps all night on my bed.
I learned that she is very afraid of fireworks when some were lit off on our walk on Christmas Eve. It took a week before she felt safe to go outside again.
Although Penny gets along with smaller dogs who are calm and quiet, I think she would do best as an only dog in a quiet household where her people are home most of the time and want a quiet, Velcro-type companion.
She loves cats and can live with older children (over 13) who won't expect her to play. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal, but she would be fine on a tie-out with supervision.
