Good news! Penny has found her forever home!

She will enjoy the rambler life style and one-step exit with canine companionship and first choice of the dog beds.

The adopter is retired and has lots of time to lavish on this lovable senior.

Yes, Penny has her senior challenges, but life is good...

Did you notice? Yes, I am an honorary Golden Retriever at only 21 pounds. Penny is a breed mystery without a DNA test. She has a delicate frame, black curly fur, and a short tail. What do you think?

Penny does have some vision loss due to cataracts and therefore, has more needs. She is very sweet despite her limitations and adapts well. Penny looks into my eyes now after three months.

It is easy taking a walk. They are short! Sniffing is thoughtful and no pulling.

Penny has a "soft mouth" when taking treats. We finally found a food she enjoys and able to eat. She likes a salad plate on elevated surface. She needs oral exam under anesthesia with her dental disease. It was sidetracked when a cardiology consult was recommended by the generalist due to a murmur. In the meantime, she had lost seven pounds.

Next step was visiting an internal medicine specialist. Heart was assessed during this visit and presumptive ulcer was diagnosed when more severe conditions were ruled out. Medications given and Penny is eating again. Her body condition has improved and regained some of her lost weight.

The funniest thing was when Penny "stole" the extra large dental chew from a big dog and walked proudly all around the house! The big dogs looked on in awe and respect for their elder.

Sweet Penny would like tender, loving care in her senior years.
