How do you know the right family has been chosen for your foster dog? When you see a picture of him in his new home after a neuter appointment, and all you see is smiles.
Pickles is settling into his new home with his new people. He is looking forward to continuing his daily walks and learning how to play fetch. Pickles was a puppy who defied the odds during delivery and then again as he learned how to nurse.
And then...everything clicked. Just like everything clicked when he found his new forever home.
Welcome to the RAGOM family with your little sister Ellie Mae (Charlie), and welcome to your new home where you are going to grow, and shine, and bring light to everyone who meets you.

Meet Pickles!
Pickles turned 10 weeks old on Monday, May 17, and he is one of the happiest puppies we know. It isn't often a rescue knows the full story of their dogs, but in this case, Pickles was born in RAGOM's care. His mom is Saylor (21-049A) and his sister is Ellie Mae (21-073).
Pickles came up a little short in the tail department when his mom accidentally removed it during her cleanup of the umbilical cord. There is no need to worry, as he makes up for it by wagging his whole body, from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail.
We could write all day about how cute he is, but his personality is what counts. Pickles is going to be looking for an active family. He enjoys getting out on his walks and playing. His sister plays a little rough with him, and his mom plays with his sister a little more than she does him, so he could really use a loving family that plays a little gentler and showers him with affection.
He enjoys playing in the water (he's a little uncertain of lakes, but he's young). He loves the sprinkler, the garden hose, and his water dish and bucket. He enjoys an easy game of tug-o-war and chewing on tennis balls. He likes his unstuffed squirrel, skunk squeakies, and small deer antler.
Pickles is a scavenger and will sniff the ground and pick up anything he thinks fits nicely in his mouth. He is also a little digger, so if you value a perfectly manicured lawn and pretty flowers, you might not be happy with his puppy shenanigans.
This fun guy has sharp little teeth and a high-pitched little bark. He uses his bark to let you know it's time to go out at midnight and he uses his sharp little teeth to attach to your ankles when you take him out at midnight.
He is usually good until 4:00 AM. During the day, he goes out about every 3 hours if he is not already outside.
Pickles is treat-motivated and learning to sit and come using the "sit" and "here" commands. He is doing well on a leash and he sleeps best if he goes for a late evening walk. He currently goes for 1.3 miles in the morning and a mile in the evening.
Pickles currently lives with two cats (that don't typically run from him), his mom, his sister, another Golden Retriever, and three horses. He's not real sure what to think of the horses, but has no fear of them. He gets along well with the few dog friends he has met outside of his foster family.
Pickles is current on his vaccinations and has an appointment on June 16 for his neuter. If you think your family will be a good fit for Pickles, then visit our Adoption page and please make sure your application is detailed.
Are you not ready to adopt yet, but think he is sooo cute you want to participate in his well-being? If so, consider clicking on the "Sponsor" button on his page and leave him a note.
