Pixie 08-189

Profile

Say Hello to Pixie! Pixie is a 2 year old, spayed female, PB Golden Retriever. She joined the RAGOM family because she was an unclaimed stray. Animal Control called RAGOM and I was off ... on my way to pick up this little angel and bring her here to Oakdale to join our family :) We don't know about her history at all. Pixie isn't talking :-)

Pixie has been here 24 hrs. and I have learned a little about this cutie: She is petite at about 50 pounds, but skinny. She has a medium golden coat, and the cutest little cowlick that starts at her eye brows and runs to the base of her nose! Pix is a velcro girl, and very sweet. She slept last night snuggled as close as she could get to me, with her head on my pillow :) She loves to snuggle on the couch and on the bed! She did have one accident in the house, but I don't think that means she isn't house trained. I will chalk that up to the stress. So, that is something we will watch closely. Pixie did just fine in the crate while I was at work today, we will slowly test her with more and more free roam as the days go on. Pixie gets along just fine with the gang here. She is shy so far, and hasn't wanted to play with our Gracie and foster brother Bearon 08-172... they can get pretty rough! It is funny because if Pixie thinks they are playing too rough she will start to bark. As soon as they settle down... she stops! We'll see if she wants to join in the play as the days go on. She pulls like a wild child on a leash! We will try the Gentle Leader and see how that goes. Pix sits, and lays down on command. She hasn't been off leash, even in our fenced yard just yet... since she is a stray I don't want her to get spooked and bolt. I have no idea if she could jump the fence..but, she could run from me and hide in the yard somewhere, and I don't want that. I want to build trust with her, so for now she goes out on a lead and does just fine. I really don't think she would run and hide since she is so velco, but I am playing it safe! Pixie is as cute as can be and I really look forward to getting to know this special girl. The only MUST, at this time, in her forever home, is a fence!

Pixie still needs to visit the vet, and I have so much more to learn. Stayed tuned! I will have much more to report as the days go on. Welcome to RAGOM Pixie! Your next home will be FOREVER! We love you already, and promise you that!

Pixie was adopted today by the wonderful "L" family! We are so happy for them all!! The first update is that things are going really well so far :) YAY!

One week ago Pixie was unclaimed, unwanted, scared, and not sure what was going to happen to her. I walked into Animal Control and let myself into her cage. This sweet girl who had been locked in cage for 5 days came up and gave me a kiss and looked at me as if to say "get me out of here!" I happily obliged. Today, Pixie is HOME! She has a family of 6 to give her all the love she has missed out on these last 2 years. I know the L's will make up for lost time :)

We already miss you Princess Pixie! We are so lucky to have had a chance to meet you and love you, and to find you the family that will give you your long awaited FOREVER home!

Princess Pixie is doing GREAT! What a sweet girl she is :) We have learned a little bit more about her past... Pixie was found as a stray in February. She was unclaimed at that point and went up for adoption at the Humane Society. She was then adopted. That didn't last very long...She found herself wandering the streets again, and when contacted, the family she had come to know did not want her back. But guess what? That is old news now! Now, Pixie is a RAGOM girl :) It's pretty much the best thing ever!  For whatever reason this girl has had a rough couple of years... but none of this is her fault, and it's about time for a change :)

Pixie has started to settle in here, and isn't panting anymore. She spent her first day panting, and was very stressed out. Totally understandable. She has realized that foster family isn't so bad... okay,a little crazy, but I think we'll do! She is a mellow gal, that just wants to be right next to someone, at all times! She follows us from room to room. I have tripped over her many times! She has proven herself to be house trained. (that one accident must have just been stress induced). She has been allowed about 4 hours of free roam and did just fine. Tomorrow we will probably go without the crate, she doesn't need it. Pixie needs to learn some leash manners, she really pulls hard! She is not quite sure about the Gentle Leader either... so she will be sporting it around the house, she'll get comfortable with it, and I'm sure it will do wonders! Pixie wants to please, so she would be very easy to train. She met the neighbor kids today and was happy as could be when they were surrounding her and giving her love. She still could care less about the other dogs here.... in fact, the two young ones make her a little nervous. She and our yorkie Martini get along great! They both like to snuggle, and chill!

Pixie doesn't walk... she prances! It is so cute! If you think Pixie is the girl for you email : placementatragom [dot] org! Hurry, she won't last long! Oh, and her pictures do not do her justice! I am still trying :) If you would like to see for yourself what a sweet, special, cutie she really is... come and meet her at the Northfield Chuck and Don's event this Saturday! We'll be there from 11 am - 1pm! Thanks for reading!
