Pokee 06-494

Profile

11/20/06: Pokee was the ninth of the Boo Bears to be born. Pokee?s parents were from a puppy mill and so he is a purebred Golden Retriever. Pokee came into this world at 4:14 am on October 25th, 2006 and will be ready for adoption on December 18th, 2006. Pokee will be four weeks on 11/23/06. I thought Pokee was a goner since it took over two hours to be born. It is fair to say I was panicking.

Pokee came into this world weighing .8 pound. At two weeks of age he weighed 2.44 pounds and I believe he will weigh close to 3.75 pounds when we go to the vet later this week. Pokee has had his deworming and will do another dose this week. In two weeks will get his first set of puppy shots!

Pokee got his name from another volunteer?s husband. Gene came up with the name Pokee because he took so long to come into this world. Thank for the great name, Gene! Pokee is so fun to watch. He is no longer the smallest, but he is still small compared to Jakee and Rowdee. Pokee likes to bark so we all know he is awake and ready to play. If you are interested in Pokee, please send a note to Placementatragom [dot] org and we will set up a meet and greet.

Pokee had a very busy day! Aunty Kelly came to visit and when Aunty Kelly visits it means lots of handling by lots of people. Imagine that Pokee took it all in stride and just loved every minute of it. Pokee continues to be so easy to take care of and still so small compared to everyone else. He really enjoys going outside on the deck but gets cold after just a few minutes, so his visits out there are short and sweet.

Pokee is one of the four pups still available. If you are interested in adopting him and willing to bring him to training so he can be the ideal dog, please email placementatragom [dot] org so we can set up a meet and greet!

Pokee is taking his sweet time about growing up. Pokee went to the vet and we found out he had a major case of roundworms – I hate roundworms, they are these nasty long worms that are really gross and hard on the pups' insides. So the good news is everyone, including Mom and Newfoundlands, are being treated and everyone should be on the path to better weight gain.

Pokee weighed in at 4.25 pounds which may seem small, but I tell you this little boy has spunk! He will be the first one up to pounce on the other pups and get them all playing. He has the heart of gold and loves to cuddle into you when he is tired and full from eating. He is looking for that all important family of his own. Would you be interested in this 3rd to smallest young man? He is very nice, so if you are, please email placementatragom [dot] org and let’s set up a meeting!
