Polly 08-581

Profile

Precious Polly has been with us for a little over 24 hours now. She has come a long way in those 24 hours and I think with a little patience and a lot of love she will come out of her shell and become the golden she was born to be. She is so adorable as to when you come onto the room or look at her, nothing on her body moves but her tail starts thumping quickly. It is so cute!

Polly went to the vet today and is a healthy little girl. She will be getting spayed on Friday. She weighs 53 pounds and is a little peanut. Polly is estimated at 4 years old. She did see kids at the vet today and really took to them, so I think once she is not afraid anymore, kids could definitely be in her future.

Polly is just a sweet little angel. She follows me from room to room and just curls up in the corner and rests. I think she is quietly observing my dog as to how to be a dog, so if you have a dog you might be a great fit for this precious gem. She doesn't know how to play with dogs or toys or bones or treats! She just looks at them.

She is completely housetrained. She sleeps on the floor by the bed and doesn't move a muscle the whole night and is in a crate during the day.

I can't stress enough how sweet Polly is. She will come up and want to be petted and give you kisses of gratitude. She does have a bit of spunk in her. She was a happy, hyper girl getting out of her crate and was excited to go out in the snow. She also carried my husband's shoe from the front door to the couch as you can see from one of the pictures. She did not destroy or chew it.

As far as car rides, she sits well in the car, but does have problems climbing into them. She doesn't know how! Same with the stairs. She has not figured out how to go up them yet, but is slowly learning.

I think that is all I have for right now. She is wonderful and deserves a real life. Please email placementatragom [dot] org if you feel she might be a good fit for you.

Updates

Hi - Polly here. Gee - my new foster mom really believes that I should earn my keep by doing my own update! So here goes. I'm really cute cute cute and loveable (okay Polly tell them something they don't know) - and cute. Okay FM. I wanted to try to explain what I think I need in a furever home. I'm really a nice dog but I was a stray once and I seem to have some issues with other dogs. After my FM talked to my other FM we thought maybe I just don't know how to play with other dogs and when other dogs run up to me and try to get me to play, I think they are attacking me and I get scared. When they just sniff me I do fine (because I like to sniff them too). My new furbutt foster sister and I get along fine (her name is Sophie - she used to be called Cowgirl and she's a RAGOM girl too). She doesn't know how to play either so we just sniff each other and ask for attention from FM. I haven't been hiding in my crate like I do sometimes and I've been very calm and good. SO, I think I would be best if I didn't have a dog in the family who likes to play and maybe no dogs would be even better (or at least owners who understand that some dogs might scare me).

I do like to walk and I was a very good walker with FM and Sophie today. FM and Sophie like to casually stroll around seeing things so I tried it too and it was fun. Got to smell lots of new smells out there. I also love attention, but I'm getting better about asking for it all the time. Well, this writing stuff has tired me out. I think I need a nap! If you are interested in talking to my foster mom about me please contact placementatragom [dot] org. Hope to hear from you soon!

Little Miss Polly Peanut has been returned to RAGOM through no fault of her own. The adoptive family loved her--well, all except one of their resident Golden's. The family worked with their other dog for several months to accept this lovely girl but it just was not working. So Miss Polly is looking for a forever home again. We really need this one to be 'forever' so this girl can really become the dog she was meant to be. She is a petite 58 pounds but needs to lose 3 or 4 with exercise.

Polly came to her foster home a bit anxious, shy and submissive but is slowly relaxing. It is certainly understandable for her to be worried about whether she will be safe in yet another new home. Polly follows me everywhere and if she can see me, she lays in her open crate which is her safe place. She is spending less and less time there as she feels more comfortable. She is persistent in seeking attention and will put paws up for it. We have been working on 'four on the floor' for all attention and she is getting it.

Polly has a bad ear infection that is being treated and will take some persistent ear cleaning and antibiotic drops to clear it up. She also has two sores on her back that were thought to be ringworm but they have not spread and the vet thinks they are bacterial. They are healing nicely.

Little Polly has met at least a dozen new dogs--large and small--and has done fine with alll of them. No aggression. She has free roam when I am away and has not been destructive. She is house trained. She has met kids of all ages and is gentle.

What Polly needs in a forever home:

  • someone who can commit to her--she has moved around too much in the past several months.
  • kids are OK
  • good as an only dog so she can get all the attention but also OK with other dogs
  • OK with cats
  • obedience training to bond more quickly and also to learn a reliable 'come'
  • no need for a fence if you can get her the exercise she needs being a young, active dog

My cuddle bunnies!  Pringles 08-603 and Polly 08-581.

Have I mentioned how much we love these girls? Enjoy the new pictures.  Polly is on the left in the first four pictures, and is sitting up looking distinguished in the fifth picture.

Here are some recent pictures of Polly. She is just such a joy to have around. Polly thought she was going to her forever home, but we learned that she doesn't really like small dogs. She just gets a little growly with them. She is just fine with dogs her size or bigger. So with that said, we have learned that she really would be best as an only dog or with dogs her size or bigger.

She is so cute and we love her so much. She has come a long way and knows how to be a dog and she embraces any petting and attention she gets. Whenever I sit down to pet my resident dog or her foster sister Pringles 08-603, she comes running over to get in on the petting action! She doesn't hide in corners anymore and always wants to be where the action is. When I get up, she wants to go with me. If she sees I haven't gone far, she watches to see what I am doing. She is such a wonderful companion. She is still a very mellow dog, but has quite the spring in her step.
