Pooh 09-472

Please meet Pooh a lovely 65 pound purebred golden who just moved to the Twin Cities. She is now a city slicker after 12 years of living in Northern Minnesota. Her family is moving away and is grateful for the generosity of RAGOM foster persons and sponsors who will help Pooh find a new home and have a great last few years.

Pooh has a history of seizure but has not had one since her arrival.  She walks on a leash without tugging and has learned the "wait" command used at road intersections. She didn't complain about her bath and doesn't seem interested in escaping when the back door opens.

Pooh gets along nicely with elderly feline Maurice and is learning that a crate/kennel is a relaxing place at night. Pooh has a gentle mouth, and manners when taking treats. She is not a big licker but enthusiastic when attention is paid to her.

Please check her out and have Pooh ring in the new year in her new forever home with you.

It has been a busy week for Pooh. During a bout of stomach flu, it was discovered Pooh has an abdominal mass the size of a softball. The cause and origin are unknown but given the location of the mass near the spleen it is likely hemangiosarcoma, an unfortunately all too common cancer in Golden Retrievers.

There is nothing we can do for her at this point, removal of the tumor isn't an option and we don't want to put her through an invasive surgery at her age that isn't going to improve her quality of life. As a result, we are listing Pooh as in hospice care. Pooh will be living out the rest of her time in her foster home, where she is an adored member of the family, spoiled absolutely rotten and living the Golden life we want for all of our foster dogs.

Now that her stomach flu seems to be resolved she is feeling much more chipper and ready to enjoy the holidays!  She will be going over the river and through the woods (to southern Minnesota) to Grandma (my mother's) house (nursing home) on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day dinner will include turkey consomme, venison and potato (canned) with dessert being cottage cheese and apple. Pooh is going to hang out with Prince (my Ragom adoptee) to ring in the new year. Pooh is home, and she knows it.

Please enjoy our pictures as we checked the neighborhood yard lights. Pooh is sporting her evening wear (reflective jacket) with the coordinating blue and yellow harness. She wants to thank everyone for their support of her as a new RAGOM dog. We will continue to update everyone on her progress, so please check back and keep Pooh in your thoughts.

Happy holidays from the retrievers!  My dog Prince and Pooh are putting up with their Christmas card pictures.  Both are wearing their festive gear awaiting a busy holdiay season.

Pooh has had two "seizures" since her arrival at my home.  They are periods of about 2 minutes where she has a hard time standing up and has facial twitches.  She doesn't loose her bowels or have any strange behaviors.

Pooh has an excellent nose and plots her way home each night from the neighborhood park.  She is great with kids and gets along with other dogs and cats.  She would love to get any inquiries about a forever home for her.
