5/15/05: Quincy has arrived in the wonderful City of Apple Valley. Quincy comes to us because of a few medical problems that will be worked out in the next few months and then he will be as good as new. Quincy is a very TALL and leggy 1 year old neutered male that weighs in at 70 pounds. Quincy has lots of professional training behind him and is very proud to show off his skills. His ideal family will be with someone who volunteers at a nursing home or hospital so he can use these skills.

He gets along great with our two resident Newfoundlands and Quincy feels they are great to snuggle up to and keep warm. Quincy will be going to the vet on May 17, 2005 to get UTD on shots and then he will be heading to the University of Minnesota to check on hip surgery. Quincy will be unavailable until RAGOM knows Quincy's medical and possible surgical needs. Please keep watching the website for updates on Quincy; I will make sure I update you on Saturdays.

Now to add a funny story; I told my husband to get ?busy? on the house remodeling job and Quincy gave me an odd looked and headed for the door. I later looked at his command sheet and the word ?busy? means relieve yourself in Quincy?s world. Good thing he went to the door!

Quincy has been a perfect gentleman so far. He sleeps all night next to my son Ricky’s bed. Quincy loves to get up at 4:30 and play and potty and then back to bed till 6:15 when the household gets up.

Quincy is UTD on shots and his x-rays are being looked at tomorrow. He does have two VERY nasty ear infections that we are treating. We are starting to think that Quincy may not need the surgery. He runs and plays ball well, never limps and seems overly happy. He may not have been good enough for a service dog, but for a fun playing dog he is great. However, he thrives on going to the nursing home and helping out. We have been there 3 times and they beg us to come back every day. The people there love him. So if you are a volunteer, send Placementatragom [dot] org a note - he would be good for you, too.

Quincy and Coal have become best friends and it is going to be hard on Coal, but she understands that Quincy may want to go elsewhere. Here is a picture of them guarding the door until Ricky comes home from school. They refuse to move all day!
