Profile

Jessica came into RAGOM after growing up in a commercial breeding facility. She is getting used to living in a home and needs a confident dog already in the home to teach her the ropes. A physical fence is required as she does startle at unexpected noises. She has met kids while out on walks and would be fine with dog-savvy children age 10 or older. She has been exposed to cats, and showed no interest and no prey drive. Jessica needs a home with patience as she comes out of her shell.

Hey folks, today was an amazing day!! I went to my fur-ever home with my new adoptive parents! I’ve got a new little brother named Glacier (after the National park), and a new name for me also inspired by the National park: Rainier.

I’m settling in really well, as you can see, I’ve claimed my spot on the sofa already, and have learned the best spot to watch out the front window from my brother also.

I was so happy going home with my new parents I couldn’t keep my eyes off them as we walked to the car - I can’t believe how lucky I am and how much my life has changed in just a few months after becoming a RAGOM dog.

Hey folks, Jess here! Lots to tell you about - mostly about the outside!!! Oh my, do I ever love going outside! I’ve been out walking by the river and that was lovely, but best of all was going for a walk through a forest! So many smells to check out and so many awesome things to see and do!

I put my paws in the water - but wasn’t foolish like the other dogs that were out and decided it was swimming weather. I held my tail high through the entire hike through the forest, and even got real playful with my foster parents. Exploring outside is the best!

I’m getting more and more confident on a daily basis at home, and I’m getting pretty snuggly with my foster parents also. I don’t really get scared by the sounds of trucks and busses anymore while we’re out - the only thing that really surprised me was some wrapping paper that blew right by me in the strong winds we’ve been having recently!

I’m finding more and more treats that I like to eat - the real trick there is eating them fast enough that the resident dog doesn’t steal them out from under my nose when I take too long!

Hey there, I’m Jessica, although my foster parents have been calling me Jess! I’m a very pretty 4yr old, 70lb Golden Retriever.

I lived at a commercial breeding facility in Oklahoma for my first four years of life. My beautiful friends at RAGOM rescued me from a dog auction, and I’m thrilled to be learning about my new life and journey in Minnesota.

Over the weeks at my foster family I’ve been learning from the resident dog and starting to get used to life in the big city! I love hanging out with the resident dog at my foster family, she’s an older girl, and we just like to nap together.

My foster family lives in the city, which means we get to go for lots of walks along the river and through the parks. At first I was startled and afraid of the noises the trucks and buses made while we were out walking, but I’ve gotten much more confident now and just keep on walking by!

I also love to go for a run - I run really well right alongside my foster parent, I don’t pull and don’t get under their feet while running either! I’ve met a lot of other dogs along the way - I do prefer the smaller dogs, and have played a little with a corgi that lives in my building. I’m just fine with the larger dogs too, but haven’t worked up to playing with them yet!

Just hanging out on the bed with the resident dog, we’re both really good at snuggling!

My first trip to the vet went just fine, and I’ve even learned how to jump up into the car to go for a ride. I’ve since been spayed and recovered like a champ from that - I did not enjoy the cone of shame though.

I’ve discovered that I actually do like treats, although I’m still a bit cautious of eating in front of people. It took a bit of encouragement to get me eating when I first came to my foster family. I’m still not an overly zealous eater, I do better with food being left for me to snack on when I’m feeling hungry.

Here I am enjoying a bit of a treat - I really enjoyed chewing this No-Hide to help clean my teeth!

I do love hanging out with my foster parents also, when they’re hanging out on the sofa I will gently step up there to hang out with them. After the first few days of settling in I discovered the bed - I’m especially good at curling up for the night there and not bothering anyone else!

I wouldn’t say that having a bath was my most favorite thing in the world, but I was a pretty good sport and put up with it - apparently I smell pretty now…

I’m also an excellent downtown dog as I very rarely bark! I don’t make a noise when my foster parents leave the house, and I’ve only ever barked when my foster parents had the audacity to put a box on the floor where I didn’t expect it to be! I let them know that wasn’t cool.

All in all, I’m a very low maintenance and loving companion. I know I’d fit right into your home, and I can’t wait to meet you!

I’ll take a bit of nice weather on the balcony any day!
