Hi all you puppy fans!  Sorry it took me a while to introduce myself, but I’m Ritter! I was born a few days ago along with my six brothers and four sisters, and we have been busy doing important puppy business since then.  The work never ends, I tell you!  It’s an nonstop cycle of eating, sleeping, pooing, peeing… Whew!  Just when you think you’re done, it’s time to start all over again.  It’s a lot for a little puppy to handle.  Thanks goodness I had mom and FM to help me keep everything straight while I was getting the hang of it!

Updates

Sunday, March 18, 2012

Hey fans!  It’s me, Ritter here writing my own update today!  I miss my mom and FM but the whole slumber party fun house thing gets my mind off of it.  Boy without 9 other puppies in the puppy pen I have a LOT of space to play and wrestle.  I’m the champion wrestler of the house you know, I take the other two down!  Watch me in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXKgFcYjXE4

I can pin down Maui in seconds as you see below, he’s rough-and-tumble, but when it comes to wrestling me, he’s nothing.  Even though I’m uber chubby (Petsitting fosterkid says it’s like carrying around a 13 pound bowling ball), I’m still not the biggest……. but not the smallest either!  Out of me, Kona, and Maui, I’m the second biggest at 13.8 pounds (of pure muscle!).  Petsitting fosterkid also says that I have the sharpest teeth, which when I’m wrestling and playing is good, but when I’m biting her she says it’s not very pleasant (I thought we were SUPPOSED to grab the toy arm thingy and shake it).  Nap time here so here’s Petsitting Fosterkid to finish my update.

Hey there!  All I can say about Ritter is WOW!  This guy’s one BIG bundle of energy.  He’s also such a loving cuddly sweetheart…… he’s got a very big personality.  This guy is up and playing 3/4 of the time, and it’s weird how he always sleeps with his head in the water bowl…. LOL.   Whenever I step in the pen they’re all three jumping on me, but when I sit down Ritter will jump on my lap.  Ritter is the most independent of the three (Ritter, Kona, and Maui).  He will just run off a little bit more than the others, but boy does he want his people!  All three of them are VERY verbal; they’ll do anything from play growl to howl.   Another thing about Ritter is that he’s got a mind of his own sometimes.  He’s the one where you’ll call for him to come in and he’ll run away because he wants to stay outside, the little goof ball :P  This guy is great at obedience and I imagine he’d be great at agility.  He goes crazy in the water dish (sits in it, rolls in it, tips it over and THEN rolls in it ect.) so I’m assuming he likes water.  And geez I turn around for one second and someone decides to steal my chair :p They’re all set for a walk; all you need to do is bring a water bottle!  Check below for this cute video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pws23CQRLk8

Like most typical retrievers Ritter loves tennis balls.  Even though he’s very playful and has a mind of his own every once and awhile, this guy is ADOR-A-BLE!  He’s such a sweetie and once you get him on your lap he’s in heaven.  The O. Family is very lucky to get this sweet little boy:) Congrats.  Check out his pics below!

Dear Mom and FM,

I’m up in Eden Prairie with my 2 brothers having a 1 week vacation without you.  I miss you a lot, but boy are we having fun!  Think slumber party for SEVEN whole nights!

The first day our petsitting mom and her daughter had a meeting with all three of us at the end of the day to give us a few rules.  Here’s what they said:

#1:  THIS is a shoelace.  It is NOT your chew toy.

#2:  THIS is my sleeve.  It is NOT your chew toy.

#3:  THIS is my finger.  It is NOT a chew toy (yes I’m talking to you Ritter)

#4:  THAT is your brother.  He is NOT a chew toy.

#6:  THIS is my cleaning rag that I’m trying to wipe with.  The three of you do not need to chase it every time I move it back and forth.

#7:  You will NOT play tug of war with the pee pads.

#8:  THAT is the resident dog.  She does NOT have magic milk dispensers on her tummy like your mother.

#9:  THAT is your water dish.  It is NOT a swimming pool.

It was a little like boot camp, but we all nodded and pretended we were listening.  On our second day our petsitting family took us to the baseball field behind their house and we chased the kids all over the place.  It was quite fun, and our petsitting mom said our ears were all flying like bat ears we were running so fast.  On our third day our petsitting kid taught us all how to sit.  At that point we had the whole family completely wrapped around our paws and they all declared that we were pure GENIUS when our butts hit the floor.

When we wake up from our nap we let our family know by giving them a lonely yipe, and if they come running we wait until they take us outside to go to the potty.  Then they oooh and ahhh some more and tell us how genius we are again.   If they don’t hear us for a few minutes, then the ONLY place we go potty is on the pee pad in the corner.  Petsitting mom said it’s a good thing we’re all adoption pending because we’re so smart she might just have to keep us all!

Keep checking our page because our petsitting kid said she will write about each of our personalities in a day or two once she knows us really well!

I now weigh 9.75 pounds!!!

Went to the vet for the 1st shots and wormer, we are now at 6 weeks old. Foster mom had to bring reinforcements to help load all us puppies and unload at the vet. Thanks to Mary T for the extra help. Dr. Heidi says we are all very healthy and that our Dad must of been a big boy, cause our mom is kinda small. We have appointments to have our spay and neuter surgery for 5 of us on 3/19 and for the other 5 on 3/20. Then we will just wait for our new people parents and siblings to come get us. We sure are meeting lots of nice people, who most say "how do we choose, they all are so cute and perfect."

Mom has decided to hold back the milk and now mom is teaching us not to bite so hard and to play nice. We now eat dry Nurtrisource Lg puppy food 3-4 times a day and most of us are doing pretty good about going potty on the pads.

Went outside for the first time, because vet Heidi says we need to get hardened up a bit and go outside and learn to pee and poop on the grass. We all sure loved the KUDOS and praise when we go potty on the grass, we hold our heads high and get so excited.

My, how we are growing, weight is now 5.25lb. That is a 3.17lb gain since 2/8. Thats only 12 days of growth, He is no longer the smallest of the boys, He has a cute little face like his Momma and he is really strong and agile, He can easily climb out of the puppy pen and likes to follow Ruby around the house, He is very social, when us peeps walk by in his line of vision, he is so excited and you cant help to let him out of pen and play with him.

How can we resist that face?!!?

I am one of the smaller in the bunch. Foster mom says I look most like my mom, the dark red coat. I am mellower than the rest of my siblings and very cuddly. I weigh 1 lb and 9 oz. See how I grow next week.
