Rebel 13-197

Profile

Meet Rebel, AKC name "Royal Blue's Rebel With A Cause." Yep, this boy comes with a registration certificate. Not that that makes him who he is, he is great with or without that. Rebel is a 6 yr. old light PB Golden, neutered male. He will be 7 this Oct.

Rebel comes from a divorce situation and has been living his life the past year in an outdoor kennel. His dad loved him dearly and would have given anything to be able to keep him but just had no place for him to live. So he decided to give him to RAGOM so he could go back to living the Golden life! Here are some things his dad says about him:

Lived with another dog and does fine unless the dog gets to close to a bone. He calls him an alpha dog. But does not show any of this with a human. He lived with cats and they would sleep with him. Good with kids as he lived with an 8 year old and traveled to me with a 17 month old and did just fine. House trained, has been through a year of obedience training and this shows, he listens well, sits, shakes, lays down when told. LOVES to play ball. As you can see in the picture below he came with some toys and just loves to carry this one around. Dad says he has no storm anxiety and I can confirm this as we had a storm last night and he was fine. Says he does drool in the car and not his favorite place, but did fine with his trip to me, lays down very nice. Does pull some on leash but he is already getting better with this.

Just an over all great dog who is now enjoying living in a cool home instead of a hot outdoor kennel. More to come as we get to know this sweet boy...

Rebel is doing great! Found out he likes sticks..foster dad was out peeling poles and he went out and saw the poles and grabbed one and got all excited, so we cut one off for him and it has been like Christmas ever since.

What he needs in a home:

  • Owner says likes cats ( I don't have any so cannot confirm).
  • Lived with dog, but does have some dog aggression with bones or toys (Alpha dog), so dog savvy or willing to work with this..so would do great as an only dog!
  • Loves his people and wants to be with you.
  • Respects baby gates.
  • Does not require fence.
  • Lived with children 8 yrs and over.
  • Does fine home alone with free roam.
  • Loves to play fetch, but low key in the home.

Wow, Rebel is a great dog! Loves his people and just wants nothing more than to be by them. He has free roam when we are gone and does great. Likes to play fetch outside for a while and then when in the house very mellow. Likes to carry his favorite toy around all over the place. Lets you know when he would like to go outside by pacing or going by the door, he is 100% house trained. Very easy dog to have around.

Remember he did live with another dog and although he may be an alpha dog and had issues with bones and a toy now and then, if you are dog savvy and are willing to work with this it will be fine. This is only with dogs now and then, he LOVES people and kids and I can take any toy from him without issue, he has no aggression with people at all..

Walks very good on leash now, he does pull if he gets excited by seeing a rabbit or something. He also has done well on car rides . He just lays down and waits to get to the next place. He is not one of those dogs that will sit and look out the window and get excited about where he is going. Any questions feel free to contact your placement adviser!!

Rebel had his vet appointment and all is good! He is a healthy 80 lb. dog which is about the right weight for him.

His former dad said he is not crazy about riding in a car. Now that we have had a couple rides I can see that it is not his favorite thing to do. He lays down nicely for the ride but he shakes a lot, so short rides are fine but I think being a traveler is not his first choice, although he may get better with it as he does more of it.

His dad also said he is an alpha dog and does have issues with some dogs or even the dog he was living with. He had a family come visit him and we found out he should probably be an only dog. This dog was very submissive and took all the signs as he should and Rebel still had an issue with him.

So a home without another dog and who do not travel a lot would probably be best for him.

He LOVES his people and is a great people dog and does great with kids...this family had kids (older 10,14) and he did great! I would stick to older not because he has an issue but because he is a big boy and would knock over little ones.

He loves to give kisses, play ball and be by his people...

Rebel is enjoying his first time in water. It was hard to get him in the pool at first, but now that he got a taste of the cool water on these hot days, he is loving it!! Look at this smile!!

What an awesome boy we have here! He is adjusting to living inside and loving the coolness of the stone floors, so far he has yet to lay on a soft bed, he prefers the stone floors, I laugh at how he lays (kinda like a girl, but would never tell him that) the picture below shows this.

He is 100% house trained and lets you know if he has to go out by pacing.

He sleeps all night, respects baby gates, has free roam when we are gone, he is getting much better at walking with a leash. Enjoy a couple more pictures of him.
