Regis 02-155

Profile

Regis is a 6 month old male Golden Retriever Shar Pei mix.  He is medium gold in color with a black jowlie type muzzle.  His head is large to relation to his body, a Shar Pei trait.  He weighs 31 pounds and he's very cute!  His story is that he and his littermates were turned in to the shelter at an early age the other pups were placed first since they looked more Shar Pei, so he was the last to go.  Regis has lived his entire life at the shelter!  Poor little guy!  Since he has been in the shelter for so long he has no socialization skills with people, he knows only puppy rules - nip and growl.  When he meets people he is very timid and cautious.  He is fine with my kids who are 11 and 14, but there has been some growling when smaller kids try to approach him.  He will need to be placed with a mature couple who is dog experienced and who will be willing to help him overcome his fears and to work on his socialization skills as well as obedience training.  A family without kids would be best for him.  A fenced in yard would be necessary!  He will be a loyal dog with the right family.  I will be gradually introducing him to new situations to help him work through his fears.  With time and patience I know he'll be the best dog that he can be!

Our Regis 02-155 passed away on November 4th, 2014 from a nasal tumor at the age of 12 1/2. Regis came into our lives in the summer of 2002 as our foster dog, It was love at first sight and we adopted him! Yes, we were a foster failure, but it was a failure that brought our family so much joy, love and companionship. He truly was our BEST FRIEND.

Over the next several years he welcomed in many foster dogs and taught them the rules and regulations of our house. Our family got so much love and laughs from our silly boy, we will miss him terribly!

Run free Ree Ree!

You were the best dog ever and you will never be forgotten. You will always remain in our hearts forever!
