Welcome to RAGOM, Remington...

Remington arrived at our house yesterday after a long trip up from Iowa.  He was found as a stray and brought into a vet clinic in Iowa. While he was at the clinic he was brought UTD on all of his shots, neutered on the 17th, and micro chipped. They are guessing him to be around 10 months old.  He is being treated for a tongue infection (glossitis) right now.  He is on 2 antibiotics for that.  He weighs 56 lbs but should be around 75.  He definitely needs to gain weight.  He goes into the vet on Thursday to have his sutures removed from his neuter.

I can't believe he was a stray.  He is so gentle and has such a loving spirit.  He has made himself right at home here.  He gets along GREAT with my dogs, both females.  He absolutely LOVES my 2 kids ages 14 and 17.  He will just climb into your lap to snuggle and slept with my son last night on his bed.  NO potty accidents in the house at all.  When I let him outside he eats a ton of snow.  He loves to be out in our fenced yard to roll in the snow--it is so cute.  Suzie with RAGOM had a slumber party with him the night before he was transported to my house and said he did great at her house too. I almost forgot to mention he is crate-trained too.

I will update more as we get to know this handsome boy.

From Remington's forever family...

I have been meaning to send pictures but I can't seem to get Remmy to sit still long enough for one. He loves to pontoon now that Sunny showed him it was okay to jump on and off it. He just loves to be cuddled and petted. He has his favorite spots looking out the windows at the lake, barking at the fishing boats, staring at the little fawns in the yard hoping they will come to play with him. We would not give him up for the world. He of course is the neighbor's favorite as he reminds them of their Cody. Remmy has all of us wrapped around his "paws".

Well, Remington has been at our house now for almost a week.  I feel like he has been with us forever.  He has made himself right at home. He is a VERY sweet, loving dog.  Remington pretty much loves everyone that will pet him, kiss him and love him up.  He is an extremely easy foster.  Remington is house broken, and crate trained. We are working on getting more meat on him.  He came into RAGOM very skinny but I can already see progress and he likes to eat.

When he first came to our house, he did not know his name.  He was a stray so it was a new name for him.  We have just worked with him by constant praise and treats when we call his name or tell him to come.  He does very well with that now.  He knows sit and my husband just taught him shake the other night.  Now every time you have a treat he shakes even if you don't ask him to.  It is so cute....

The vet in Iowa guessed him to be around 10 months and the only thing I see puppy about him is he is a little clumsy sometimes.  Other than that he is a very mellow, sweet puppy. Every once in a while he will get a burst of energy. He loves my two resident GR's.  He plays very nice with them.  My neighbor has a black Lab/ Golden mix that is about 4 years old and Remmy loves him too.

One thing Remmy will need in a forever home is either a fence or a family that will have the patience to train him on a leash or tie out until he can build trust.  Being a stray I don't trust that he would not run if he had the chance.  I don't think it would take long for this guy to trust but I would never want anyone to take the chance and have him end up where he was before.

We go to the vet in the morning to have his stitches removed.  We had to wait because of the holiday.  Remington is ready to find his forever home. If you are interested please contact placementatragom [dot] org.
