Reuben 07-411

Profile

6/26/07: Reuben has had a busy couple of days. After a long ride from a Missouri shelter, he was a bit overwhelmed. Reuben is a Golden/Flat Coat mix, and he is a doll. The Vet thought the was between 6 1/2 and 7 months old. He is a healthy, happy guy. He needed, and received, a bath right off the bat. He is cautious, but growing up in a shelter probably has a bit to do with that. The first day and a half he wouldn't go through a doorway without being carried. Now he goes through them with very little hesitancy. When he realized he was going to have a foster sister (Sassy) and a foster brother (Wyatt), he really came around. He decided he wanted to be Sassy's very own shadow. It was good outside, but Sassy isn't a fan of being followed around in the house. Reuben is learning about manners and dog etiquette. He is a pretty quick study. He is a fan of having doggie playmates. He is crate trained and mostly housebroken. He did have one little accident in the house, but otherwise he has been a good boy. I don't think it will be long before that is a thing of the past. He is wary of new people and keeps his distance until he gets to know you. Sit down, bring a treat and you'll have a buddy. He likes to be around his people but so far hasn't needed to be sitting on you. He has discovered that the resident dogs definitely have the right idea about the couch and the bed. Once Reuben gets settled in you can hear what he has to say about his adventures.

This weekend Reuben's fosters were out of town so he spent the weekend hanging out at our house with Nora 07-375.  It has been fun to see the difference in personalities between Nora and Ru.  Nora is higher energy and loves to run and play and wrestle in the backyard.  She has way more stamina than Reuben.  Ru, on the other hand, is not quite as active, but much more of a clown and more mischievious than Nora.  He is the first one to go grab a new toy (or a new non-toy) to chew on.  He is also up, down and all over the couch like a little monkey.  He has the cutest face - almost always smiling, too. Nora and Ru have shared their food bowls, dog beds and toys all weekend without a problem -- which is a good thing since both dogs seem to think that whatever the other puppy has is the most interesting object in the room.  I've included photos of the puppers enjoying their first Frosty Paws on Saturday.
