Well, where can I start with Riley? I have had him now for a few more days and I just love him! His is such a sweet, gentle, humble boy. He is good for long periods of time alone in the house. He has no accidents. He is not in any way destructive. He has not made one bark, growl, howl, or peep. He is so quiet. He is a gentle giant. He never, ever jumps on anyone or even comes close! He is so sweet. He also is very kind and good to my two little boys. We love him!
Riley is learning the ropes of being an inside house friend. Because he is used to sleeping on concrete, he has a very hard time sleeping on anything soft yet. He sleeps either on the floor next to my bed or on a little rug in my kitchen that barely allows his head or shoulders to have comfort. I have tried to get him on a dog bed but it is just too soft for him so far. He is so sweet. He is just a big, sweet baby.
We are working on going up and down stairs with Riley now. He must not have had any stairs in his previous place because he is a little timid with them. He likes to walk with me up and down them, but does not always feel comfortable doing them alone. He is already improving though, and I am sure he will be a pro in another week.
Riley will be going to the groomer tomorrow to have all his terrible matts removed. Hopefully they will keep most of his coat. His coat is a beautiful dark brownish red and is very thick. With brushing, Riley will be the beauty of any neighborhood. He already thinks this anyway and it's apparent by his trot. He also is still after my female Golden and does not understand why she keeps turning him away! Hopefully we will take care of his neuter as soon as his vet check comes back ok. He does not seem to mind the few extra hormones however!
Well, I will send more info on Riley next week. Just remember to keep him in your prayers to help find his forever home - the forever home he dreams about each night while he sleeps.
