Rockwell aka Buddy 04-424

Profile

Rockwell has arrived here in snowy Cedar Falls, IA. We call him Buddy because he really perks up when called Buddy and does absolutely nothing when called Rockwell/Rock/Rockie....

Buddy is the sweetest 1 - 2 year old unneutered male, he was turned over to RAGOM from a pound in Iowa.

He has been with us for 2 days and although we know nothing about his previous life here is what we can tell you. He is the most laid back young Golden that we have ever been around. He is content to just hang out with his new family and take in all the hugs and kisses he can get and he loves to give kisses back. He LOVES the attention, but he is not terribly demanding of it. He has had zero training, but is a very fast learner! In 2 days he has the hang of sit, working on down, can shake consistently and now that we have a name that he seems to like is doing better on coming when called. We think he is brilliant, he just needs someone to work with him. He likes dogs and loves all people.

This boy is HUGE. For those that like the blocky head and solid legs, this is the guy for you. His legs look like they are made out of 3x3s. He is a medium blond, not light but definitely not red.

Since he is not neutered he does mark occasionally, but today we were out in the garage where he had never been and he did not lift his leg one time! This marking behavior should stop once he is neutered on Thursday. The saddest thing is that he is terrified to being crated! It is heart wrenching to watch his face when he is in a crate! Unfortunately we have to crate him while at work because of the marking, I will worry about him all day! We'll never know if a crate was used to punish him or if being in the pound for so long made him afraid of them. It is also obvious that he has been abused in his previous life, but the good news is that it hasn't broken his spirit one little bit! He's a happy happy boy. Once neutered and brought UTD on his shots, he will be ready to find his forever home. More on Buddy later as we get to know him better.
