Hi, it's me Rocky!
You've probably been wondering what I've been up to. You won't believe how busy I've been.
I've spent quite a bit of time getting to know my 2 GR sisters. We hang out all day long and we've become good friends. It didn't take them long to figure me out and we've had no issues at all. I don't have any hang-ups with my personal space, so I don't mind it when they nap right next to me or the rest of the family is up close giving me smooches. Seriously, these people have no concept of personal space.
A few weeks ago Dad complained that his home office was cold in the winter so us dogs came up with a plan. We all sit close to him, in our favorite spot. My favorite spot is in front of him, Roxie likes the left, and Sage's spot is near the doorway. We are very quiet, and the only time he can hear us is when we snore. With our breathing and body heat, he says the room is much warmer. We haven't come up with a gameplan for keeping the office cool in the summer yet - no worries, we have plenty of time.
I haven't been able to nap close to the cat yet, but I'd like to. At this point, I would have to describe my relationship with Missy the cat as 'intrigue'. I love to watch her anytime she's downstairs. She doesn't seem to mind, since I don't do her any harm. Dad keeps telling me (when Mom is not around) that it's OK for me to eat the cat, but I just haven't been that hungry yet.
I love my human brother and sister - they are so gentle with me, as if they knew that I was fragile. So I reciprocate and I try not to knock them over or step on their little feet with my big paws. I must admit, however, that I am attracted to some of their small plastic toys. They just look like they would be good treats to chew on. I'm getting better about not eating their toys, but not making any promises that it won't happen again.
I'm also trying to do my best with housetraining. I've had a couple of accidents during the day/evening, but none at night. Mom and Dad take it in stride and say I'm not the first one to puke, poop, or pee on the carpet. They sure were smart to buy a carpet cleaner awhile back.
I got to visit the vet a few weeks ago. He was really impressed with me and didn't find any new issues or concerns.
Despite all that is good in my life, I do have one complaint. Dad promised that he'd take me for lots of walks and he hasn't kept his word very well. He keeps telling me it's too cold and slippery out there for me. We'll keep on him about this. He said today is perfect and we'll go for a walk later. In the meantime, we walk around the yard to get exercise.
That's all the news I have for now. As you can see, I'm really enjoying my senior life. Hope all is well with you and your family too.
All my best,
Rocky

You and that cat crack me up!!!! You are so funny. I took my new foster Dallas to be cat tested last week. His paperwork said he had lived with cats early on in his life but I wanted to be sure. Well the cat hunched her back and hissed at him and I thought he was going to bolt RIGHT THRU THE DOOR to get to the car. It was the funniest thing. Obviously the cats ruled the roost where he lived before.
Ya know big guy. You waited a lot of years to hit it big but man it was worth the wait. You are a very lucky boy and I cannot tell you enough times how happy I am for you. You behave yourself now. I know you can be the best boy ever. Your notes make me laugh and I am glad you are catching up for what you had previously missed out on.
But I gotta know….. Have you mastered those steps from the family room to the kitchen? Tell me yes!!!
Thank you, thank you for keeping me posted. Your update made my day!!!!
It's me again.
Interesting that you should ask about the steps. Just 2 days ago I was feeling really spunky and went up the three stairs for the first time. That cat was just looking too delicious for me to stay where I was.
And the next day, I outdid myself and went all the way up to the top level - about 20 stairs! Needless to say, Mom was shocked when I walked into her room. It probably took me a couple of minutes, but I made it all the way up.
I then repeated the big performance today, but I didn't feel like going back down so Dad decided to carry me. Mom and Dad aren't very excited about me rambling my way up at night and possible taking a fall, so they decided to put a baby gate at the bottom during the night. But that's OK, cuz I got the whole lower level to myself and can sleep anywhere I want.
Glad I could make your day. I'll keep you posted on the exciting things going on in my relaxing and carefree senior life.
