And let's give a big RAGOM welcome to Rocky 11-100. It has to be a big welcome because Rocky is a 1 year old PB puppy weighing in at 90 pounds. Rocky's first family got him from a breeder as a little guy but he grew into a puppy the size of a mini-bus and became too much for them to handle. Rocky may look like an adult but he is an energetic puppy at heart, wanting constant attention and play time. Even though his name is Rocky, he's a lover not a fighter. When not playing, he loves to cuddle up with his people and be a lap dog. The first day in his foster home, he spent most of the morning running around the backyard, playing fetch, then going for a walk. Afterward he took a power nap in his kennel then was ready for more play time. By evening, he and FD battled for position on the couch to watch a little TV before bed time. Rocky ended up curling up on his feet and taking a pre-bedtime nap.

Rocky is house trained, no accidents, and stays in a kennel when the rest of his family is not home. He loves riding in the car but needs to be restrained in the back or he will try to crawl into the driver's lap and help steer. Rocky grew up with an 8 year old kid in the family and enjoys playing with other dogs. Unknown about cats or smaller toddlers. It is reported that he has jumped a fence when the snow is deep but now that most of the snow is gone he has not attempted that at his foster home.

Rocky has a birthday next month, so let's see if he can celebrate it in his forever home. Rocky needs someone that can handle the energy level of a 90 pound puppy and can give him some basic obedience training and teach him a few manners. He could be an only dog or would be a good playmate for another dog that loves to play. Rocky may be a bit much for a senior dog that is more interested in living out their years as a couch potato. Kids in the family would be a plus, as long as they are old enough to handle a bigger dog.

Quick update for Wednesday 03/30/2011: Rocky went to the Vet today for a quick tune-up. He is now UTD on his vaccinations and we are awaiting the results of his fecal test. The doctor gave him a clean bill of health except he weighed in at 92 pounds, which is about 10-12 pounds too much, and he has a minor ear infection. A couple of weeks of ear drops should take care of that.

Rocky continues to do well in his foster home. He's really starting to make himself at home here and we are seeing more of his sweet personality every day. As Rocky has become more comfortable, he's less demanding of attention. He sometimes spends his time in the family room alone, lying in the sun from the south facing windows.

Last weekend was a busy one for Rocky. He took a trip to the RAGOM event in Forest Lake and got to meet lots of dogs. There was so much activity it was almost too much for him, so many dogs to meet and play with, so little time. After the event he spent most of the day outside with FM doing some yard work. Rocky even got to help pick up some of the sticks that had fallen off during the winter. One of them was about 20 foot long but that didn't seem to deter him. Rocky made two friends this week, a pair of brothers that are Brittany Spaniels. On Sunday he got to meet his fence buddies in the same yard and spent half an hour trying to keep up with the two smaller, more agile boys.

Later on Sunday Rocky got to meet a potential forever family with a female black lab. Rocky's got his paws crossed, I think he likes his potential playmate. By Sunday night Rocky was one tired puppy.

Update for Monday afternoon 04/04/2011: We received a call from Rocky's future forever family and he will be heading soon to northern Minnesota to live with a retired couple and their black lab on their 3 acre lot on a lake. His forever family are experienced dog owners and enjoy obedience and agility training. We're sure he will not be lacking for attention and activity. He will be missed by his foster family.
