I would like you to meet Ronnie, the tiniest golden retriever ever. He weighs 18 pounds and is three-years old. In reality, he probably does not have a drop of golden retriever blood in him, but he sure looks like a miniature golden.
He arrived this morning from a humane society. He met the three real goldens that are here with absolutely no issues. He ignores the cat. The first thing that happened after we found a collar small enough for him was that he had a bath to get rid of the smell, then he had his nails trimmed and mats trimmed out of his back end. He allowed all the handling but I wouldn't say he enjoyed it. He has become best pals with my golden Bob. He is pictured with Bob...you can see how small Ronnie is as Bob only weighs 50 pounds and next to Bob, Ronnie is tiny.
He was very, very scared when he first arrived and he had been that way while at the humane society. Now that he's in a home environment he has relaxed. I think he's doing very well overall. He ate a good dinner and has had plenty of water to drink. He has even taken a few treats. We have spent a lot of time in the back yard this afternoon. He is getting better in the yard but likes to have a human close by.
Ronnie is not ready to meet applicants for a couple of weeks. He needs to be neutered. We also need to decide what he will need to be successful in his new home. At this point I am clueless on what he will need. I'll write more in a few days after we get to know him better.
