Today Ruby was moved into her new foster home with her veterinarian! What a lucky girl. Now she is spayed, micro chipped and had her tumors removed (still awaiting results). We couldn’t believe how Ruby loved it at her new foster home. It was like she had dreamt about it or something. She fit right in. She figured out the dog door to the gorgeous backyard right away! She also seemed to like the resident dog, Cedar. What a pretty gal! It was tough for us to let Ruby go but we knew we were doing the right thing for her. Her new foster home is more than perfect! She can now focus on love from humans and dogs and forget about cats! Plus she can also get all the veterinary care that she needs! Ruby’s forever home should definitely NOT have cats, small animals (even small dogs), and not small children. She is a great loving girl, who enjoys tummy rubs, snuggling, and petting. Ruby just still has many signs of her puppy mill past that we know she will overcome with time and love. For example her body posture is typical of that of a puppy mill dog, holding her head really low, tucking her tail, avoiding eye contact, etc. With time at our home she began to look us in the eye and even relax enough to wag her tail! She needs a quiet home with patient humans. Ruby will make an excellent companion for the perfect family. Did I mention how beautiful she is? Ruby would like to give some kisses to her sponsors Sue and the Traegors for providing her with the financial means to be on her way to a clean bill of health. Without you, she would still have several tumors, ear infections, and now is spayed and doesn’t have to be a puppy producer any longer. Her veterinarian said Ruby had recently had a litter. At 7 or 8 years old, it was difficult news for us to hear. Now she can enjoy the rest of her life as a companion, not a producer. Thanks for providing a bright future for this gem!

A closeup of Ruby's old chain collar, which was embedded in her neck and needed to be cut out with bolt cutters. Her foster rescuers have saved it as a reminder of where she came from. This is all that remains of Ruby's old life.
