Ruby 10-242

Hi guys!  I'm Ruby and I am special because I'm the biggest of the kids and I'm the only girl!  I was born yesterday, August 8th, to my pretty mommy, Aruba 10-201.  My brothers are Ernie 10-241 and Hank 10-240, and they are both shrimps, if you know what I mean.  But not me!  I'm a sturdy 1 lb 1 1/2 oz as of this morning.  As FM says, there are two kinds of puppies around here -- the quick and the hungry!  Guess which one I am!   It's kind of hard to stay awake with all that warm milk in my belly (seriously good eats!), but since I'm so sleepy, I don't worry about it too much.  FM says I'll be ready to go sometime in October (not too sure what "ready to go" entails, but I guess I'll find out soon enough). If you are looking for a special girl puppy to share your life, maybe I'm The One!

I’m outta here!  Not even a lingering backward glance for FM!  She and I took a road trip to see my new family this morning and as soon as she got me hooked up on my leash I was out of the car and speeding toward my very own people!  It’s gonna be great!  They had a new bright-red leash for me, and get this… I look quite stunning in red!  I bet they have some other stuff for me, too…  Like maybe some toys… Some liver treats… Some kitty cats!  Yeah!  Me and my peeps are heading out together for a planned pit stop at my new grandma’s house where there are some other four-leggers to play with.  I hope it doesn’t take them too long to learn who’s boss!  It’s ok though.  If they struggle, I’ll help them figure it out.

Before you go, check out the picture of me on my birthday compared with what I looked like today in the yard!  Then check me out with my new Mom and Dad… I think they like me!

To my brothers and my foster brothers, I love you guys.

Love and sloppy puppy kisses to all the RAGOM folks who cheered me on,

Ruby A.

It’s me, Ruby!  Things have been going great here --- Ernie and Hank think it is too busy, but it is just my speed!  We get to spend lots of time racing around in the yard and wrestling.  There are treats for sitting, but I have to admit I get a little excited just knowing they are there and that makes it very hard to actually do!  We went out in the rain the other day and it gave me the most beautiful beachy waves in my hair.  That kind of natural curl is something you just can’t achieve at a salon – you either have it or you don’t.  And guess what? I have it!  It also made me smell so good, like a fresh autumn rain.

Check out our family picture!  That’s my mom on the left, then me, Hank and Ernie in front, and my foster brother Archie in back.  The best thing about him is his tail!  Well, really the best thing is he doesn’t snap at us for pulling his tail, but the tail itself is next best.  FM took the picture through the invisible force field (she calls it a screen) which she says is the only way to get us all in the same place and looking at her without a group hug.  Did you know that screen-thingy can stop a speeding Golden Retriever puppy even though you can’t even see it?  It must have a little spring action, too, because you should see my brothers bounce off that thing!

FM here.  Ruby is doing awesome!  She has completely mastered the 6 steps off the deck to the grass and loves to race around in the yard.  She likes to drag long toys behind her, and since she is faster than everyone else, it is safe to say that she enjoys taunting them.  You know that person in your life who is adorable, smart, and athletic, but is so sweet you have to like them anyway?  That’s Ruby!

A couple of mornings ago I tumbled out of bed and wandered out into the family room with the morning sun streaming in the windows… The floor of the pen was covered with a newly purchased vinyl remnant. The gated puppy compound, complete with playground slide in the center, was in place to keep them safely entertained.  Towels and washable puppy beds were providing a soft place to sleep.  Bright red dishes were full of yummy kibble and fresh water… And…. Three puppies, who look like they bathed in poop overnight, were spilling over the walls to greet me like little golden army men scaling the enemy’s ramparts!  Ruby had figured out the day before how to climb the walls of the compound and escape and, fortunately for the other two, her talents apparently include teaching!  Determined not to be outmaneuvered by Ruby and her band of merry men, I constructed a special ledge around the top of the pen with peg board and zip ties that has managed to keep them contained (Ruby adds “for now”).   Stay tuned!

I’m getting my smile on!  Check out the pictures of me on my big walk around the block! Do you think I liked it?  I did! For some reason FM has to tie a rope around herself and hook it to me.  I guess she doesn’t want to get lost, but she sure is slow. The thing around my nick itches, too, as you can see from my pics.  I guess if it makes FM feel more secure I’ll put up with it… Today while we were out, we met another neighborhood pup on our walk and did some running and racing.  It was fun!  Now that I’m back, I’m real tired and guess what makes the best pillow ever?  Hank!  That’s right, he’s always good for something.  Some days he’s a pillow, other days he’s a chew toy, sometimes he is a step stool to help me get closer to the top of the cage.  I think it’s pretty nice of me to make him feel needed.

Speaking of being needed, I hear there is a special family out there who thinks they need me (to be fair, who wouldn’t benefit from a life with me included?).  I’m real excited to go there because instead of being the most darling Golden Retriever in the house, I am going to be the one-and-only-most-darling Golden Retriever in the house.  I can’t wait!  FM says I have to stick with her for a while longer though… Something about a special trip to the vet.  I hope it’s fun, ‘cause there’s not much else going on around here.  The food isn’t as good as it used to be, what with the milk machine running dry, and those boys are really getting on my nerves!

FM says to tell you that we got our first shots the other day (I didn’t even notice) and got weighed.  Guess what?  I’m over 10 pounds!  Together me and my brothers are so heavy we broke the handle of the cat carrier FM was using to tote us to the vet.  Kinda serves her right, don’t you think?  Really… Puppies in a kitty carrier? Embarrassing!  If you want to see me in action, visit cutest puppy ever.

Hi Ruby Fans!  Things have been good around here!  We got some new toys to play with and I especially love carrying around the rope toys.  I shake my head, and they fly around and hit stuff.  It’s great!  I like the slide, too, as you can see from my picture.  The boys say I’m not too graceful while I’m going down it, but what do they know?  They are probably just jealous because I was the first one to be able to get up there all by myself!  When you use all that energy, you need lots of good food, too.  I may have mentioned this before, but there are two kinds of dogs in this puppy zone, the fast and the hungry.  Guess which one I am?

Today I went outside in the rain.  FM says it’s good for us to try that kind of stuff while we are little so it doesn’t bother us so much when we are older.  It didn’t bother me at all.  We had lots of great rumbly thunder today, and a cool light show in the sky.  Unfortunately FM grabbed me right before I got to the mud, which would have made a good adventure even better.  I pouted until I got back inside and realized that I could slide all over the kitchen with my wet paws!  Not as cool as mud, but still pretty fun.

Speaking of pouting, FM didn’t take us to the big dog party on Saturday and I’m not too happy about that.  I hear there were some very special people there, including a lady who came to visit me last week.  I wish I could have seen her again, because I think she really loves me! Also, there was a contest for the youngest Golden, and since I am an hour or so younger than my brothers, I think I could’a won it all.  FM says she had her hands full with two fur-butts and two non-furries, but I think she just wanted a day off.  Hmmph.  Parents.  Maybe next year.

Check out the new video of us playing with our foster brother, Archie (who, by the way, apparently wasn’t too much to handle despite being nearly 10 times my size, and got to go to Goldzilla) at watch us play with Archie.

Hi guys!  It’s Ruby here.  Things have been busy in the puppy zone!  We had lots of super -special guests visit us this weekend.  On Saturday some RAGOM friends came to check us out, and they brought fur-butt Amos along.  He l-o-v-e-d us, and we felt the same way about him!  Then on Sunday some more guests came to spend time with us (don’t tell my brothers, but really they came to spend time with ME).  They didn’t have any fur-butts with them, so maybe they need to get one (hint, hint)!   I think they’d do best with a pretty, young, SGF (single, golden female), looking for fun and adventure, and I know just the gal!  While they were here they got to watch us play, and cuddle, and pee on the floor! I don’t know what her problem is, but that silly FM spent the whole time running around behind us with a spray bottle and a roll of paper towels.  They were in her hands so much you would think she was born that way!  Anyway we had a great time being loved up by all our guests.

Here’s the other exciting news!  We are starting to play great games here!  I love to play tug with resident Archie, and if I’m really lucky I can sneak to the back door and “kill” FM’s rug before she catches me!  I grab the corner and drag it around, and shake it up and then do it all over again.  Once FM sees me she tries to get me interested in killing something more appropriate, like a stuffed toy… Duh.  I have no interest in those.  Even my crazy brothers know it’s no fun to kill something that’s already dead.  Next time I think I’m going to have Ernie distract her with the peeing on the floor thing, so I can finish off that rug before it escapes for good!

Check out our new play video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKnADxWUGfE !  I’m the one with the rope toy!

So, you know how they say the best pieces in your house or wardrobe are both beautiful and functional?  Well, check me out!  My foster family keeps telling me how pretty I am and -- I know this will surprise you very much -- but I am an excellent plate cleaner!  FM keeps putting these little dishes with mush in them into the PZ (puppy zone) and I am usually the first one helping out and the last one to leave!  FM says I have a great future in pre-rinsing!  She says I am a, uh, what's the word?  A pre-rinsing pro-to-jay.  I am also an excellent face cleaner (no need to carry handi-wipes when I'm around), and a neck warmer!
Of course, it is hard to look your best when Ernie is constantly picking fights.  That guy grabs ears, tails, whatever he can get his big mouth on, and pulls!  He likes to roll around and make funny noises.  In addition, Hank tromps around the PZ covered in mush because he is more into wearing food than eating it. Silly boys. Soon, I'll be ready to ditch these guys and find somewhere to live where they like silly (but pretty) girls!

Foster Mom here.

Ruby is turning into such a little ham we could tell her story in pictures! Once she got up off her belly onto her feet (no small chore when you have a tummy like hers) she turned into an adventurer. Her little stubby legs carry her full speed ahead across the floor, until, oops! She loses her balance and falls over! Sometimes she gets back up. Sometimes she lays where she fell. As a special friend of Ruby's described it: "Whew! It's so tiring being an adorable little puppy, I'll just lay down right... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

Though she is getting so big she spills out over the sides of the ice cream bucket we weigh her in, she often sleeps through the process. She is a great snuggler with both people and her sibs (according to Ernie and Hank she is sweetest when her eyes are closed) and like every other little sister loves to laugh at her brothers!

Check out a short video of her with Hank and Ernie!

Hello everyone! It's me, Ruby! I understand there are some nasty rumors about me floating around thanks to those two boys who live in my box.  First, let me just say with regard to body size I have adorable curves (I've got an especially nice round belly!). I think the boys are just jealous because I am two rock-solid pounds of puppy love!  As far as bad manners go, I might occasionally give a subtle hint that noisy, milk-slurping Ernie and I've-got-my-own-private-milk-stock Hank, should make room for others. Is that so wrong? So, do me a favor and don't make up your mind about me until you meet me, k?

Love, Ruby

PS. I'm thinking of being a rugby player when I grow up!  Well, either that or a princess.

PPS. This might seem trivial, but you never know what someone might think is important, so here it goes: I look very sweet when I yawn.
