Ruby (Sheridan 08-257)

Profile

I renamed Sheridan Ruby, because she is such a beautiful red color, with little curls on her ears. Ruby is a purebred golden retriever, who came from a puppy mill in Iowa. She is 6 months old, and weights 28 lbs.  She most likely will remain a very petite golden.

This morning, at 6:00 a.m., as I sat outside and drank my coffee, I  watched Ruby run as fast as she could in circles, take a break and come up for some hugs, then take off full sprint again, and I couldn't help but reflect on the last seven days with her.

She came to my house exactly one week ago, so terribly afraid. She'd follow me around the house, and just watch me from around corners with big eyes that remind me of a deer. If I turned to her, she'd crouch to the ground.

She is still a bit skittish, but getting so much better.  She now knows what toys are.  She follows me everywhere. When I get a pair of socks out of my drawer, her little eyes light up so much that I just have to give her a pair too, and she walks away with them as happy as can be.  She now loves treats, being held, hugs, kisses.

A must for Ruby's new home is another dog.  Ruby will have her spay scheduled this week, and will then be ready for her new home.

The M family from Duluth has adopted Sheridan (Ruby). She has a new mom and dad, and a one year old fur sister. Lucy and I will miss you Ruby! You have been a blessing in our life since the day I picked you up from the Vet in May. Have fun in your new home with your new sister.

Millie, you sure are pretty!

Hey - I'm prettier than you are

Ruby, say you're sorry, you are both pretty!

No, you're not - I am!

Geez - Ruby is SO annoying!

HEY! Take it back! I'm prettier!

See - look at my shiny fur.

I am!

Ruby has evolved into the cutest, fiestiest little girl ever. In the morning, after going potty outside, she turns and runs to me, her tail wags so hard, the whole back end of her body wags with it.   When Lucy, the resident dog, is laying down, Ruby will have none of it.  She'll walk by her, then she will walk by her again, and just shove her back end in Lucy's face, and a game of wrestling begins.

The family that adopts Ruby will love having her.
Another dog in the household is a must! Ruby is shy and timid when it comes to people, and really looks for guidance from dogs.

Ruby will be 8 months old.  She is waiting to be spayed, but then will be ready for her forever home.

Ruby continues to grow and develop into this beautiful golden. Her fur is so so soft, she loves to be cuddled, and she loves to run and play. She is gentle, has no alpha tendencies in her. She's still a bit skittish, and will really need another dog in her forever home.

We've taken a couple of walks, which she loves, and she's getting better on a leash, but if she doesn't have Lucy (resident dog) by her side, the minute we walk away from the house, she's scared. We've gone to the dog park a couple of times, which she loves.

Ruby Rose, which is what I call her when I have to get after her to get out of my flower bed, seems to be a very content puppy right now. She is happy to just be in the backyard running circles, or rolling around in the grass. She is very fond of one of the cats, one in particular, but she can't quite figure out how to engage them in any games, she is happy to just walk beside them.
