Rufus has found his forever home. He is joining a wonderful family with older kids and Toby, another former RAGOM dog. He now has a playmate to play chase and ball with. Rufus finds himself in a home with people that will dote on him and provide lots of scratches whenever he wants them.

Rufus has been doing really well lately here at our house. He has gotten fully potty trained and hasn't had any accidents in the house in weeks. This is huge because when he first came, he was not trained at all.
Rufus has been learning lots of new things. He is learning to play outside and be a silly dog. He likes whatever toy someone else is playing with. He will play really nicely with the toy. He does well with tennis balls being thrown and bringing it back to be thrown again. Sometimes you have to convince him to let you have it, but once he does he is ready to chase again.

Rufus here. I thought I'd let everyone know what's been going on for me lately. I've been having a great time here with my foster mom and foster dad. I've been busy learning new things, too.
One of the new things I've been learning is how to play with my foster siblings. When I first came here, I didn't know what play was. Now I love to chase my siblings all over the place. We even run out of the sight of mom and dad for short periods of time.
It's okay, though, because I've learned that even though I can't see them, it's safe and they will be there when I come back around the corner.
I've also really started to like going on car rides I now jump up into the car on my own and lay down nicely for my ride. I don't exactly like the windows down yet, but maybe next time.
Foster Mom took me on one of those car ride things the other day. She didn't tell me where we were going, but then she took me to the groomer's! I liked it. I held so still for my bath once I remembered that water feels good. I wasn't fond of the dryer,as it was new and scared me some.
Then they put me on the grooming table. Oh, it felt good, all the brushing. I felt like a king being pampered that way. They even did my nails, and I was ok with that, too.
Now that I'm all clean and looking good, I'm planning on looking for my perfect home. I'm quiet and well-behaved. I like my kennel, but I'm also really good when I'm not in it.
I like to sleep in the same room as my foster mom and dad, but I don't share a bed with them because they take up too much room. I love getting snuggles and scratches anytime.
Well, I've got to go. I've got to keep learning new things so I can be ready for my new home.

Rufus is having a lot of fun staying here and is blossoming so much. He has favorite toys now, really liking the ones that have both a squeaker and the crinkly noise. He is always carrying one around with him.
He is doing great lately with his potty training. When he first came to stay, Rufus had no idea what it meant to go out to do his business. It has been several weeks since he has had any accidents. We are so proud of him!
Rufus is becoming brave and loving, too. He will now jump up on our bed in the evening for snuggles. He loves this time, as he doesn't need to share us with any other dogs and we are his. He now loves to give kisses. He also always wants to be wherever I am.
Rufus is actively looking for his forever home. He is hoping for someone who likes cuddles as much as he does.

Rufus came to live with us approximately three weeks ago. He was rescued from a commercial breeding facility at an auction. He is 4 1/2 years old and is really a sweet boy. He is coming along a lot quicker than I expected and has already learned so much from his pack in his foster home.
When Rufus first arrived, he had obviously never been groomed before. He has had a few baths since and currently needs multiple adults to help with that as he is very scared of the water. He grooms nicely with a comb and actually seems to really enjoy it.
Rufus does well with a kennel, patiently waiting while we are not at home. He has not destroyed his bed that we have put in there for him. He also eats his meals in the kennel as it makes him feel safer and less distracted.
Rufus has settled well into the pack. He would do best with a laid-back doggie partner. He needs one who will show him the ropes, but will also be willing to let Rufus come in for some extra snuggle time.
Rufus does have some resource guarding with new toys. If it is one he has not seen before, it is his. He will do anything to keep it as his. Once he has had the toy and become used to it, he no longer seems to guard it. With that in mind, I would not recommend Rufus be around young children. Teenagers would be fine, but not younger children.
Rufus is working hard on potty training. He was not trained at all when he first arrived. We have been taking him out frequently to compensate. He is learning to potty on command, but sometimes needs to see the other dog potty first to get the message across. When he is loose in the house, we have been using a belly band to prevent accidents.
We are working with Rufus to learn basic obedience. We have been working on two main commands: sit and off. He is doing pretty well considering the short amount of time he has been with us.
He is also learning to walk with us. On walks, we spend the first few blocks with him nearly tripping us as he wants to be so close, but he quickly settles in and walks so beautifully, loose leash on the left side. I wish my other resident dogs would walk as nicely as he does.
Rufus is now up to date on all his shots. He has been fully vetted and has already been neutered. He cooperates well with his vet and allows her to do whatever she needs to examine him.
I believe Rufus would do best in a home with a female human present. He has definitely shown a preference for females over males. He needs a family that will keep working with him and help him become the best Golden he can be.
Rufus isn't quite ready for adoption. He still has some learning to do and needs to finish his potty training. There are a few things I would like to continue to work on with him.
