Rylie 10-282

Profile

Rylie is a beautiful 4 year old female, 60 pound, PB. Her initial bio said she needed a quiet environment to "chill out" and believe me, she came to the right place...this household is all about peace and quiet and comfort.

When Rylie arrived, she met the two resident dogs with a wag of her tail...the Cavalier twirled in approval and the senior Golden strutted around the yard to show her the ropes. Good girls!

The next day, we had to take care of a little business. So it was off to the vet where Rylie tested negative for heartwork, lymes and anaplasmosis....then was treated with Animax for an ear infection and a swollen area inside her ear flap. Rylie's dry skin and sparse coat needed attention so we came home with an antibiotic for her skin and medicated shampoo/conditioner to make her coat full and luxurious. We'll go back next week to make sure the ear and skin issues are under control.

During the week, Rylie blossomed like a little flower. She happily joins us in our routine of morning and evening walks, visiting the park, and cuddling on the couch. She also loves the special shampoo/conditioning treatment and massage twice a week...good for her skin and wonderful for bonding :)

Right now, these are a few of the things that I know Rylie will need in her forever home:

  • A fur sibling (the three dogs get along very well, but Rylie would love a young dog to play with)
  • A fenced yard
  • No children under 10
  • Someone who would be there most of the time to give her the love and attention she missed out on in her former life

Hello from Rylie's Forever Family!

Rylie is settling in nicely. She is such a gentle soul and has been a pure joy to our family! The first week she was adjusting, so didn't eat a whole lot of food (except for pumpkin or her peanut butter treats!), but since then her appetite has increased and she has enjoyed learning that she is here to stay. Her wonderful personality keeps coming out each day!

Rylie enjoys going for walks (twice a day) and is learning how to walk on a flat leash--she does pretty good until she sees a squirrel, then she thinks it's a good idea to try to chase it away! She has excellent recall and enjoys going for longer walks out in the walking path where there is a field she can run free for a while.

She is so funny when she is outside because she will lie down in the snow and roll around--she LOVES going outside with us and fetch the ball--even when it hides under the snow she can find it! She is a very smart girl and we have all fallen in love with her.

Rylie and her Dad will be taking obedience classes together beginning in January, so they can bond and learn some fun commands along the way. She knows a lot of commands and is really a good girl, but we thought she would enjoy taking the class to challenge that smart brain of hers.

Here are a few photos of her enjoying her new forever home. Thanks to her FM for taking such good care of her and helping her transition into our home--she is a very special girl and we are very fortunate to have her!

Today, Rylie packed her bags and went home with new mom, Cathy H. Aren't they a pretty pair?

We miss you already, Rylie, and hope you have a wonderful life with your new family!

The wait was long. But the final report from Marshfield Labs was worth waiting for...no malignancy. Their report showed Rylie's flag value as NEGATIVE. Now, we'll arrange to have a small lump in the same ear lasered and that will be it...no further treatment other than periodically checking her ears (which is SOP for GRs).

We all got extremely excited at hearing this wonderful news and soon the dogs and I were all dancing around the house...probably making quite a spectacle. Then the dogs each got a beef marrow bone to celebrate!

Thanks again for all the positive vibes that were sent our way.

Rylie will be looking for her forever home soon. Let Placement know if you want more details about this sweet girl.
