Sadie 13-034

Meet Sadie, a spayed, 5-year-old PB GR. She is a smaller dog with dark coloring and long feathers. She is as sweet as they come. A young couple had her from the time she was a pup. Fast forward five years and now with small children and working long hours, they have less and less time for her. They made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender her so she could have a better life.

It is evident that she was loved very much—she is affectionate, warm, and playful. She’s a little doll. She met the two resident dogs and foster dog Maisy 12-381 easily, and the cats have been out and about not the least bit thrown off by her. Her surrendering owner said she is crate trained so I put her in the crate the first night. She panted for a bit then eventually settled down. After morning potty I went back in the bedroom to get something and she jumped up on the bed and wanted to snuggle and play.

It will be a busy week for Sadie with a vet check up, going to the groomer, and getting into our routine, which will include several walks a day—something she is not used to! She still is getting settled in, and I’ll post more as I get to know her. What I do know is that she is a little gem!

Sadie is doing great—what a sweetheart she is! Each day she is getting more settled and not as anxious (lots of panting that first day). Last night she slept through the night without making a peep. She has quickly integrated into our household routine. She LOVES going for walks although she gets pooped easily—she is not used to those!

She had a professional groom yesterday and she looks so nice now! She was nervous during the groom—probably had never had one. When she was done, the groomer set her down on the floor and then called me to tell me she was ready. When she turned back to her, Sadie had gone potty and it was not a tiny dribble. She thought she was bad and tried to run to the door, so the groomer thinks there may be some old baggage about having potty accidents and getting disciplined. On the bright side of things, Sadie got another bath and the groomer said she needed to give her floor a good cleaning anyway. Gotta love people who love dogs. :-)

Sadie also had her wellness check with the vet and she got a clean bill of health—fecal and heartworm tests were negative, and she is UTD on all her vaccinations. Yay, Sadie!

Sadie has a special visitor this afternoon—a nice lady who just became a RAGOM volunteer. So who knows, if this is a match, Miss Sadie may be a Home Visit dog, and a sister to fosters! So all fingers and paws crossed that this is a match made in Heaven!
