Sadie 13-225

Sadie is a 3 year old purebred Golden Retriever who made the long trek from a shelter in South Dakota to our home in Le Claire, IA this past  Sunday . She was dropped off at the shelter as her family was moving and they could no longer keep her. She is just a petite thing weighing in at 41 lbs and is beautiful sweet and has fit into our crazy home seamlessly.

She is currently being fostered with 3 other female dogs, 2 male cats, a 13 month old toddler and 2 adults. She met my dogs with no issues and has been fine with them since. She hasn’t played with them, but they just coexist with each other no one showing a whole lot of interest in the other. She has been very interested in sniffing the cats and will follow them around, but has shown no aggression just interest. I think over time she will realize they aren’t anything to be excited about. She has done great with my toddler so far, but can inadvertently knock them over so that is something to be aware of. She is a little shy with new people, but will quickly warm up if given the chance. She loves to be right next to her people on the floor and loves as much attention as you will give her. She is definitely a Velcro dog, but when you tell her to go lay down she is a good listener.

We have had no accidents in the home, she is completely crate trained, knows sit and come,   enjoys stuffed toys and a short game of fetch, rides like a dream in the car, pulls a little on the leash but not bad, and is calm in the home. She is one of the easiest fosters we have ever had. She came to work with me  on Monday   to update her vaccinations. Her canine teeth are very worn down; it looks like she chewed on something very hard for a long time. At this time there isn’t anything that needs to be done with those. Otherwise she is happy and healthy.

I really can’t think of many negatives with this girl. She did growl the first time my husband fed her and was touching her while she was eating, but hasn’t done it since. She barks at new people up at the fence but just needs a minute to get to know them. As you may notice in the picture she is missing her right hind leg, it was amputated as a puppy and she gets around great on 3 legs.   I think that it is all for now.

More updates to come on this fabulous girl. Please let your placement advisor know if you are interested in this pupper.
