Sadie continues to adapt to Minnesota and living in a foster home in harmony with dogs of various gender and size and with cats.
Sadie received complimentary Lyme vaccine and Canine bivalent flu vaccine from my daughter's vet practice. Sadie will need a booster in three weeks, but being a Minnesota gal now, a full line of protection is a good thing.
Sadie is lending her fuzzy paw with my older foster for a couple months. It is heartwarming to see Sadie back up for Penny. Elder respect!
Oh, don't forget that Sadie makes a good mosquito “pawtrol” on the deck and in the house.

Good morning! How would you like this fluffy dog peering at you and giving you a kiss on the cheek?
What a laid-back companion! I worked hours online and she faithfully kept vigil, one eye opening occasionally. Don't you love the sounds of a dog sleeping? So melodious.
Last weekend Sadie entertained me with a burst of doggie gymnastics. It took a fenced yard to release her "inner puppy." So fun to watch her shenanigans.
So many thunderstorms this spring and Sadie continues to demonstrate no fear. Some of the boomers had me jump. Tonight, fireworks.
Ah, the search for the perfect kibble! Sadie came into foster underweight and refused to eat for a while. Finally, she ate and still underweight. Suspicious, yes. I found out why: tapeworms. It is rare to find tapeworm evidence on a fecal exam. Droncit, please. Took care of them!
Now Sadie is on weight management along with my dogs.

Sadie extends her "Oklahoma welcome" to followers. She has been enjoying the Minnesota weather patterns since her arrival in February. It is so nice to see sunshine again and recently the benefit of an air conditioner.
Instead of "going up North to the cabin," we travel to the horse farm west of the Twin Cities. She continues to be an expert travel companion. All the dogs are so well behaved in the SUV and I hear no sounds until we hit the gravel road. Anticipation of country adventures!
Did I mention that Sadie enjoys her green bean snacks? Popcorn catching on Saturday night. Peanut butter in Kongs! She now eats her kibble next to the Golden, instead of separated by a baby gate, as she knows there is enough food for her.
Sadie has shown more interest in stuffed toys and will gather them into her doorless plastic crate. So cute! She expresses interest in playing with the Lab mix (short legs). She defers to other dogs appropriately. A good attribute!
I am keeping the age requirement as stated. Sadie is light on her feet and mindful, so she would not knock a child over. She may bark at this new being and make them cry with the noise.
Tents in the living room are NOT acceptable (according to Sadie), especially, when it contains a happy 5-year-old waking up and singing opera at 7:30 a.m. A vicious cycle ensued. The more crying, the more barking.
Sadie just needs more time to adjust than most young families have to give. She has been accepting of my visiting family members. She will bark at first, like my dogs, until she knows it is "safe." And she approaches with caution. Her confidence has improved. The first eight weeks, not a bark. It is actually a positive sign when she expresses herself instead of internalizing fear.
Sadie has been enjoying the fenced yard at the farm. She canters around, rolls on the grass, and play bows. Her new hobby: catching mosquitoes and flies. Buzzes activate those expressive ears!
So Sadie surprised me one day. She is too smart with the slo-feed bowl. She picks it up, carries it over to the kitchen floor and overturns it for faster consumption! Now she has a ceramic slo-feed bowl and so far, so good! The slo-feed bowls provide mental stimulation and are better for digestion for the avid eater. She does have a "soft mouth" when being hand fed training treats.

Hope all the moms and foster moms had a wonderful weekend! The warm weather and sunshine has been refreshing.
I wish I had a picture of Sadie sleeping with E.T. (Extra Tabby) snuggled up next to her. So heartwarming!
Sadie has been enjoying walks wearing a harness and I enjoy watching her expressive ears during the walks. At 33 pounds, she is easy to control when a squirrel suddenly appears!
Sadie jumps up into the SUV and rides so peacefully in the back seat with the resident dogs. I hardly know any dogs are in the vehicle.
We had the first, loud thunderstorm last night. Surprise—Sadie showed no fear!
Watching Sadie play I have an urge to dress her up in a tutu. She is whimsical. Sadie's adventures continue.

Hello, from peaceful country living! Sadie is assisting the resident dogs and me farm sit for a few weeks. Twenty-eight acres to explore, supervised on leash, and so much popping up in the spring. Sadie stuck her nose deeply into a dry grass mound. Luckily, no one came out!
On one of our walks, Sadie got into a stray burdock—a mess with her fine, long hair. But she calmly laid down, stomach up to be deburred. She was so brave when I needed to remove burrs from her fuzzy paws.
Sadie's protective instinct has appeared. Yes, deliveries, doorbells (yes, even the doorbell on TV), and unfamiliar family or friends bring up the bark. As I stated before, a slow introduction works best for her.
Her best side would not show at a Meet & Greet, so she will not be present, at least for a while. It took at least 24 hours for Sadie to accept my dogs, but soon a "pack" was formed. She will need a buddy dog in her new home. She is worth every minute!
Speaking of residents, feline residents are very acceptable.
I am so impressed by Sadie's "soft mouth" for treats. So gentle! Also, no food, toy, or treat guarding.
Grass blades are back and all the dogs are enjoying some healthy snacks. The hope of warmer days ahead!

Sweet Sadie is a 1-year-old who came to Minnesota with a group of dogs from Oklahoma. Their owner lovingly relinquished them to RAGOM when he could no longer care for them. It has been my pleasure to foster Sadie. Sadie shows she was loved.
My first impression: Sadie has exceptional ears. They are expressive and a lot of fun to watch!
The road has been full of surprises as I learn more about this princess. She fits into my pack well after the initial low protective growls through the baby gates. It only took a couple days and she felt safe among the group.
Bath time was spa-like. Sadie actually enjoyed the attention and, of course, the towel rubdown. She looked ecstatic!
Yes, it took some days to go outside with all the snow, wind, and cold! And it is difficult for a Southern girl to find the "right spot," but then she discovered "snow cones."
I am impressed with how fast Sadie is catching on to the home routine with Benjamin's tutelage. Sadie jumps into my SUV behind Benjamin, my Golden, and then, curls up for the ride with the gang and enjoys it!
A physical fence would be preferred for Sadie's safety and because she loves to jump and run with other dogs.
Dog Alert: Sadie is officially a dog. My grilled cheese disappeared when I left the room. Surprise! Sadie was looking up at me with a satisfied look.
This little princess has so much to offer: petite, 32 pounds of fun, gentle dog with beautiful cream feathers, and those expressive ears!
